New post W10 upgrade sound issue

After about 5-10 minutes from log in and with normal sound thru the speakers, everything coming through the speakers is in slow motion with a garbled echoing metallic sound.  Voices are very hard to distinguish.  To get rid of this condition, I have to log out, restart the computer, and log back in. Sound is normal for 5-10 minutes and then the same issue presents itself.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

An educated guess is it might be either heat related or a failing power supply.

Actually, this sounds like he has sounds set to 5.1 and is listening in stereo, but a DXdiag would help more.

This problem only occurs while in game, AH2.  I'm setup with a 5.1 speaker system.  No hissing while playing music.  This never occurred before upgrading to Windows 10.  I did upgrade the drivers as suggested in a previous post.  This afternoon, I played for nearly and hour before the "slow motion, garbled" sound started.  The only way to get rid of it is to log out and restart the computer.  Thanks for the help gents!

The date on your audio files is still showing 2010. Those are not likely to interface well with W10, but maybe. . .

Creative SB X-FI.  I looked in the sound setup for the drivers to update them.  The "update drivers" button is greyed out/non selectable.

Qualifier:  I know just enough about the interior of a computer to get in trouble.  So, I very much appreciate the observation and help from those of you who are tech savvy IT experts.

I have a Titanium on one of my systems (an archived product according to Creative) and its driver is dated 7 Mar 2014.

If your card truly is a plain-Jane X-Fi, then it is at the end of its service life and there will not be an official driver for it.

Well, I don't see any interfering audio devices, so I don't know where else to look. I was hoping someone else might chime in, or Skuzzy would return.

If no one else has anything the only thing I know to suggest is a newer audio card. You see, the DirectSound acceleration method changed under Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, so I think that's the culprit. Worse, it doesn't play well with earlier AMD CPUs or video cards (I can't remember which). I'm just not that familiar with the CPUs or video cards either one, so I'm not much help with your Radeon. I know your CPU quite well, because I ran one for a long time.

If you can, try to get a known good power supply for testing. Your local builder shop might be kind enough to lend or hire one if you look like you'd buy a new one from them.
