Aces High III auto download
« on: December 04, 2016, 10:39:19 AM »
Hi guys,
been ages so here goes.
last time I went to play, message came up, current version out of date, do you wish to install new version?. I clicked yes, auto download kicked in and all sorted.
This time, no joy.
Does this mean I have to reinstall totally from scratch?. If so, no problem, but forum main screen says auto download should work if you've got an older version?. Any ideas?

Cheers.
Swampyrv.

If you have never played the new version, then it would be best to download and install it. Make sure it installs in a NEW folder and not some previous version of Aces High.

No need to do that. AH3 will create folders of its own. You'd also be able to transport your settings after the installation from the old game.

Welcome back!

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Post a Dxdiag report (top third) here and we can see what your trying to play on. The new version is much more dependent on the video card. The old version use to use the CPU.

WOW! 20 seconds faster Morf  :neener:

You just barely make the minimum requirements with that. That is a very weak video card.

When you first start the game, go into the video setting and turn down the textures to at least 512. Then once you log into an arena, go to the settings there and start turning stuff off to get a playable frame rate. Set environment to none and turn shadows off to start.

You no longer need to go to an arena to adjust the graphic settings.  They can be done from the splash screen.

Select the "Graphic Detail" option and check every option with the word "Disable" in it.  Move the "Environment Map" slider to "None".

As what was said before.  The NVidia 620 video card is a very low end video card.  Aces High III offloads all the graphic work to the video card, so frame rate is going to depend on the video card performance.

Hi guys.
As always thank you for the replies and advice. A very welcome change to go onto a forum as a novice, and get help rather than having the pi** taken out of you coz your unsure of stuff. Any recommendations on makes of video card upgrades that can be purchased over here in the U.K?

cheers

Your CPU is fine.  I would be a bit concerned with the system only having 4GB of system RAM, as Windows 8/8.1 likes memory and it being an OEM computer, it is going to be running a lot of bloatware.  If you have cleaned out the bloatware, you might (I say "might" just to cover myself, rather than saying "should") get away with 4GB.

Sorry what is bloatware?
Would the nvidia 9800gtx graphics card be sufficient. Is my cpu able to power it?
