Variable environmantal tracer visibility
« on: February 20, 2017, 04:04:28 PM »
Like many players, I suffer a major frame rate hit near large airfields and large bomber formations when the ack is firing. It would be nice to have the ability to have a slider in the graphics options to reduce the number of tracers drawn on screen. It would work best if the slider adjusted the tracer percentage reduction not by the range of the guns to you (like trees), but by adjusting the density of tracers visible evenly across all sources in normal draw range. IE: If I'm flying over a field with a fleet off shore 5 miles away and my slider is set to 25%, both the base and fleet ack would show 25% of the normal tracers at the same time.

It does not have anything to do with tracers.

Ok, so why is there a frame rate hit when there is dense Ack in visual range? Seems to me to be a issue related to the guns being fired as flying in the same area without active ack has no problems.

Don't confuse tracers and Ack. The fps may possibly be do to the Ack, lots of collision testing do to line of sight and impact of each bullet calculation.

But the time it takes to draw the tracers is extremely small.
