Drones lost on rearm

I remember in Aces High 2 when you rearmed a formation of bombers the drones would stay at the base for the remainder of your sortie.  Just tried it now and lost both drones when I was several km from the airfield.  But the weird thing is it gave the kills to a random enemy player, I had not encountered any enemy in my flight and the base wasnt even flashing so no one could have been within proxy range.

The drones were adjusted some time back in AHII not in AHIII.

im ok with losing them, but I can't explain how someone got a kill on them when I was a couple sectors from the nearest enemy and had no enemy interaction in my bomb run.

You can look at your score to see who got you with what at least.

it shows he got me in a Chute, but the base wasnt flashing so he wasnt sitting on the rearm pad.

Base flashing by bailed pilots was also fixed some time back in AHII.

Ok, I checked the video, he was 6.3k from my drones in a chute, when my drones exploded he was 1.5k from my main bomber   Just bad luck I guess, he was like 2-3 bases deep in the middle of nowhere.
