For event balance/gap filling. The PAC theater needs a later model torp plane for the Japanese and the U.S. needs an earlier one.

It was far more capable than the Dauntless overall.   But that came with some tradeoffs in some areas.   I think the Beast was just a victim of time, technology, tactics, and initial design requirements.
It was indeed. Trying to remember my Weapons of Warfare comments - initial son-of-a-beeoch-2 complaints were poor slow speed and taxi handling, poor engine power band, tighter cockpit design, inaccurate fuel gauges, weird tail gunner design, and all these faults during the first couple of months drove the pilots and ground crews to hate the Helldiver at first. But it's a faster, better dive bomber than the Dauntless - more options, internal bombay. The new engine and prop seems to iron out most complaints after they modified the tail, internal gauges, some of the control cabling, and other tweaks worked into the SB2C-4 variant.

Would be nice to have it! :aok

It was underpowered, had less range than the SBD and bad flying characteristics, most of the issues were fixed with the later models. By the time they entered service in larger numbers the tide had already turned so it never had a chance to shine. The SBD was not any uber plane but it was a simple, reliable aircraft capable of doing the job when it was most needed. The Swordfish and the Hurricane are 2 other planes in that category.

The helldiver would be a nice add to the game but still, "faster than the SBD" doesnt really mean anything, the helldiver would be a turkey shoot for pretty much every fighter just like the other dive bombers.
