I'm glad The Orville has been so well received. MacFarlane is a huge Trek/Star Wars nut, and Roddenberry would be proud of what he's done with this show, being the real "new" Trek show out there right now IMO. Norm McDonald has been great, just his voice makes me laugh still. Everyone on the show has been great in fact.
I saw an interview Seth MacFarlane did with George Lucas, it's on Youtube if anyone cares, really shows the depth of knowledge he has about the SW universe, he's a serious fan, that's for certain. Same with Trek, I read a blurb that Ronald D Moore wrote about Seth McFarlane and his Trek fandom and knowledge - if you can impress the guy who largely wrote/produced DS9 and most of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, you're good at it.
Very glad Fox renewed The Orville for season 2, I'll bet we see a long, long run out of this show, MacFarlane and his writers have done great so far, and there are endless directions they can take this and be successful in making old school, and new school, Trek/SciFi fans react positively.
