I was there year 1. 100+ IIRC. There was a attempt to wait until flashing but some dweeb went NOE and flashed the base early.  Who ever was in charge opened the US airfield (because the base flashed) The IJN was still 15 miles out at seven thousand feet in rice burners.  When the IJN got to Pearl the US was in the clouds waiting.  Every year since, The US was allowed to up early in a "If Foresight was 20/20" rational.  Giving the US time to circle at 20,000 feet.

I see in the write up "In first launch, IJN launches. Script is typed (see below). Then US launches." only there is no details "below".

Got my hopes up, so i had to ask.

Must have been some really good sticks on the Japanese side.  I never got to see much of it as I spent most of my time in a state of being blown up.
