Combat Mission Crew recruiting

Combat Mission Crew

Decided to create an international squad for some open minded people who would like to run missions and do something coordinated in the MA. Members are very welcome to participate in special events as well, I definitely plan to. Squad operating procedures are subject to change, right now the most important part is to get some members and feedback about the idea. Doesn`t matter if you only dogfight, fly bombers, drive GV-s etc, all that is needed is an open mind and some imagination.

Combat- this squad is about shooting stuff down and blowing stuff up in style.

Missions- missions are the currency in this squad. If members participate in an announced and briefed mission created by someone in the squad then the person running the mission owes a debt of a mission of announced duration to each participant. Meaning you fly for me I fly for you. So there is no fixed in game leader, no armchair general to boss you around, any member can be a leader of the squad, flight etc in a mission. If this squad was a business then the janitor can give orders to the boss at times. This squad is to make your epic dream mission into a reality (taking a group of fighters into combat, making a Luftwaffe only strike, directing manned ship gun artillery strikes, NOE... imagination is the limit here). Every member of the squad can lone wolf in the MA as they wish, but repeated denial of taking part in a mission run by someone you owe a debt to will not be accepted. Every member does not have to run missions. Missions can be squad only, open to everyone etc. There must be some variety to missions, so not to end up with only furballing, GV-ing, resupplying etc.

Crew- missions need people to make them happen. This is an online game so to get what you want you must be prepared to help another person make his/her dream combat mission into a reality by taking part in it. There is no age, score or experience requirements, but a certain level of maturity is expected. Working microphone is not required, double beep on channel can mean "yes" or "affirmative" for example.

One idea is to announce missions as duration only, for example "Mission announced of 45 min duration, who is in, meet at field A45 (some random base with no activity) for briefing". So members of the squad do not know what the mission will be and when you say you are in you are committed, and leaving the mission must have a very good reason other than not liking the mission. So committed members go to the field designated and the mission leader reveals the mission. After the mission has been revealed the members can moan and groan on VOX and text for a few seconds as it happened during real WW2 mission briefings :D and then settle down and do their best to get the mission going as soon as possible.

Another idea is that if there is to be a resupply mission (I see the main focus of the squad being on combat activity), it must be run as a race and the first one to reach a certain designated area can lead another mission. To achieve that a pickup mission should be created after revealing the resupply mission so everyone taking part would launch at the same time and the race is on.

My current game ID is Atrack and right now play as a knight, but some form of rotation to country with lowest numbers might happen in the future. During workdays I am most likely to be online during time span of 15:00- 20:00 UTC/ Zulu time/ GMT. Weekend is often the same but times could be more erratic. Every new member must take part in my mission of 30 min max duration, after that I owe a debt of taking part in a mission run by that person (and every other person taking part in a mission run by me).

If this idea takes off more squad content will be added, do not want to get into too much of detail right now.

That is the tough part. :lol Taking small steps here, don`t want to be too aggressive and start spamming players with invites etc. First target is to get at least one player to join up. Flying together does not always have to be a mission. With a multi-role player it would be very easy.

With a dedicated dogfighter the flight can be just winging up in fighters and providing high cover for possible incoming enemies as one takes a crack at a 1v1 fight. It can be winging up and using teamwork to take turns and shoot the enemy down. It can be a JABO mission to poke the hornet`s nest by deacking a town near an airfield and then dogfighting over it and so on. The mission can be flying CAP for a CV and defend it against incoming bombers...

With a dedicated level bomber pilot the flight can be winging up in bombers and doing a strategic or tactical bombing mission. It can be a bombing mission with a fighter as escort etc...

With a dedicated attack aircraft pilot the flight can be winging up in attack aircraft and going against ground targets while providing mutual support against aircraft. One can take a fighter for escort...

With a dedicated GV player both can take tanks or one can take a support vehicle for scouting and supplies etc. Or one can take a fighter/ fighter-bomber to provide protection/ close air support/ spotting or take a dedicated ground attacker for the same purpose. Or one can take a level bomber and loiter around until called, so the person driving the GV can be the forward air controller and give directions what target/ treeline etc to hit...

With a dedicated gunner one can take something with gunner positions (fighter, attacker, bomber...) and fight together 2 as 1 to take crack at anything that comes near. Both can man some guns on a ship or field and call out range of hits. One can man a gun on a ship/ field while the other is a forward air controller in an aircraft, gv etc, giving corrections...

All the elements can be combined into one as well. For example a solo TU2 is flown as level bomber first, then remaining bombs are used during dive bombing ground targets and then forward guns can be used for strafing or dogfighting. All dedicated players can be combined into a single mission as well where all can do their favourite task. Imagination is truly the limit here.

Recruiting stopped at least for the duration of radar testing.
