Game controllers with AH
« on: August 11, 2018, 11:15:06 AM »
Hi Mates

I have been gone for almost 7 years since Win 7 came out.  Cannot get my CH controllers, Fighterstick, Pedals, Throttle to work with AH.  Tried everything but simply cannot set these up in AH.  So, wondering if game controllers might work in AH?

Any ideas?

Any of my old mates still around?

Any controllers that Windows can see work with AH. In Windows 7 go to Control panel, choose Devices and Printers. You should find your controllers in the upper row. Right click any of them for Game controller settings which allows you to test and calibrate all your controllers. Something similar should work in newer versions of Windows, too.

When you've found and tested your controllers in Windows, start the game and open the clipboard. Options>Controls>Map Controllers. Select the controller to be mapped and assign the feature you wish from the opening list.

Notice that there's four modes available. You can copy mode 1 to all of them if you wish, or you can create different combinations and settings for planes, vehicles etc.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Are they USB connected or game port connected?

All USB connected input devices work with Aces High III.  You may have to configure them as Bizman said.

He said he quit flying around the time Windows 7 came out... It had me thinking that his CH products HOTAS is probably the gameport version.....which I don't know of anyone else besides me that was able to get my gameport CH products hotas to work on windows 7....before SP1 came out...and it took a good bit of trickery to make it work

So I just keep 2 of them gameport CH products setups boxed up for parts....

I have some CH products fightersticks and pro throttles ( USB type) still outside of the 2 setups I have that are on 2 different machines...

The game port support in Windows 7 was nonexistent.

However, if he can calibrate the configuration in Windows, then it should work with the game.

The Xbox One controller works surprisingly well, as does the PS4 controller but if you're going to use a gamepad, the best one to use is the Xbox One Elite controller because of the extra buttons and programming.

Hi Mates

I am running Win 7.  My controllers are all usb.  I have just downloaded control manager's latest version and will install it and see if I can get these running.  Have done that many times.  Win 7 screwed up most all the games I have on my PC.

Many thanks for the comments.  I will let you know how things go.

Cheers

You shouldn't need any control managers or other software to make your USB controllers work in Windows 7 and AH3.

Did you check that Windows can see your controllers as I suggested in my first post here? If they don't show there, they won't work in AH.

One thing AH does well is controller setup. I have never had a problem. But they need to be in windows first.
