And no I'm not kidding.

On top of that Mel Gibson is the Art Director. And a RL person of Bingbing also stars.

Youtube trailer.   Bruce Willis at his best.

And another "GREAT" trailer #2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHvAxfwXWF0

I take the title back,  Warthunder looks and even flys better than the CGI for this movie

The movie goes by various names

Now Hitech needs to contact General Secretary of China Xi Jinping and sell him that AH is better than WT then next day maybe we will have 10,000 new  Chinese MA players.

CGI will never beat real airplanes because these idiots don’t know what they’re doing with the choreography.

I like Bruce but he looks like he is cashing this one in.  :(

Oh, and I think the title is appropriate as this thing will bomb at the US box office.

LOL the YouTube comment that Bruce Willis has become Nicolas Cage.  Nicolas Cage could have pulled off some of those lines, he'd make the bad movie good.

This is the Captain.  We have a lil' problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

I think it's more along the lines of insurance companies not willing to take the risk.  There are considerably more rules and regulations in place as well vs when Tora, Tora, Tora was filmed as well.

Then there is the flat line: money.  Costs a LOT to run WW2 birds, and probably just as much if not more, to modify aircraft to LOOK like WW2 birds for ones that no longer fly/exist.  G3N is definitely one of those.

You'll never beat the real thing unless you have actual aviators staging the scenes.   Nevermind this fascination with explosions and crazy eye candy that's totally ridiculous.

A Zeke trailing smoke and spinning downhill is far more believable than the crap they do now.   I absolutely cannot stand it.   Give me a real airplane any day.

it's weird but on those posters 1/2 of Bruce Willis's face looks like Harrison Ford.

I'm not arguing on which is better.  I'm just pointing out the likely reason behind the choice.  It's FAR cheaper to CGI something than it is to get everything in order to do a stunt, that you may not get more than one or two shots at.  You cannot go down to your local airport and pick up an A6M2, nor is it cheap to convert Texan to look like an A6M2 should something go wrong.  Also, CGI pilots are immortal, RL ones are not.

Regarding the cheeseball of the flying scenes, I think the problem isn't CG in itself but that the movies business's conception of ACTION demands lots of planes close together in one shot when realistically planes are very small and spread out, also how would you see them while watching on your phone unless they were all 10 feet apart? Also when was this 1000 bomber raid on Nanching or wherever???

As much as these films cost I tend to wonder if it is actually cheaper.   The margin for the people who do it is probably higher, but the cost is the same.

That's my guess.

Pretty soon they'll do away with actors altogether.  Why pay a human when you can make a CGI do it for free?

(I guess it's too expensive to find something other than a T-6 for the poster though. LOL)

Action, explosions, airplanes making weird turns, etc.  It all contributes to the mess.

If this brings in some new players who cite the movie for wanting to try our game. Are you guys going to stomp them into quivering puddles of "WTF did I do" over how gamey that movie is? Then drive them out of ever becoming part of our community while cleansing them of their wrong headed aspirations? We tend to roast the innocent before we consider the consequences to Hitech's bottom line. Skuzzy has stepped in a few times to roast "us" over that.

Chinese, Korean and Asian production companies have been putting out CGI fantasy movies for the China\Koren\Asian\Japanese markets that shame Hollywood for being artistically senile that are as epic as the Trilogy. This film is being partnered by some of the best in the Chinese industry and the American market distribution is probably a secondary market. The Asian Pacific market place for CGI fantasy and other venue films is huge, while not needing American money from theaters or streaming distribution. It's more likely Willis wouldn't do the film if it didn't get a theater release in the USA. 2015 Jon Cusack did a Chinese production film with Jackie Chan called Dragon Blade about the silk road and a Roman Legion in 50BC. Matt Damon starred in the Great Wall, a medieval monster movie that did well. Chinese CGI is leaving Hollywood in the dust becasue Hollywood is trying to program Americans into being good little politically correct voters and American men\boys into being gender confused self loathing wimps.

In Asian film production, men are men and women are women while believable background story's are presented for female hero's that go beyond Hollywood's, girls rule boys drool cultural programing garbage.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in the same boat.  Better to have actual aircraft do all the fancy work.  Problem is, do you happen to know where to get a bunch of G3M's, or even of a plane that could be modified to LOOK like them, and in numbers?
