Gibbes' Spitfire
« on: December 06, 2018, 08:59:37 AM »
This is an update of Kev367th's 2006 80th FW skin.

This was the personal Spitfire Mk VIII of Wing Commander Bobby Gibbes, Wing Leader of the RAAF's 80th Fighter Wing based in Northern Australia and later the Dutch East Indies. Gibbes had flown Tomahawks and Kittyhawks with 3 Squadron RAAF in the Western Desert campaign, scoring 10.5 confirmed kills in 274 sorties and rising from Pilot Officer to Squadron Leader. During his tour he was awarded the DSO for landing to rescue a squad mate from behind enemy lines and later the DFC for walking 50 miles through the desert to avoid capture after a crash landing.

Outstanding work!  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
