Received my Pimax 8k
« on: December 15, 2018, 09:11:53 AM »
I just received my pimax 8k and the resolution and field of view is great but I am seeing double images and no adjustment of the ipd will align them?
Anyone else got one yet?

I've been watching these guys for some time but haven't ordered one. Been waiting to see the degrees of freedom, 3 or 6, and it there were problems with the ipd, mic, or speakers, so very interested in your experience. I hope you'll do a review and any updates to your experience as you go along.

Thanks for posting.

Solved the double vision problem with the parallels setting in Pitool. My unit does not have audio or mic so must use a separate headset. The wide fov and the resolution are really very good but you will need a horse of a system. I have a rtx2080ti but my cpu needs upgrading.
This is where the future of vr is going but may have to wait for pc hardwire to improve.

How does the resolution compare to a 1080 or 1440p monitor? I. Assuming it's not equivalent to  4k monitor.

I'm running an Odyssey+ with a 2080 and still get significant fps drops with my settings. Tracking does drift, the blurriness at the edge of the fov and lower detail does detract but overall the immersion does make the game more entertaining.

I'm excited to see where vr takes us in the next few years and becomes more affordable. Hopefully AH will continue to be upgraded to take advantage of the new technologies and the bugs get worked out.
