But AcesHighSteam works.

EXE that don't work show a different date than AcesHighSteam if that matters. Also, I had updated via Steam.



I get error dialog:

Odd that it is still it the distro.
Well, I have dx 12 installed.
I was able to run the AcesHigh9.exe until I patched this morning.   
And I can't run the AcesHigh11 either starting this morning. 

I'm fine running the steam version.  Just a heads up.

The problem is YOUR download failed for what ever reason. A full download of the game and install OVER your game installation will fix it.

This is a problem that happens at the Windows file system level when a patch is issued.  It can be exacerbated when running the game from an SSD, but can also happen on hard drives.

Running any anti-xxxx software, during a patch, can increase the odds of the problem occurring.

Fixing it is a matter of removing the game desktop ICONS, then doing a full installation over the top of the existing one.

If the patch does not fail, there is nothing we can do about this.

It is a file system failure mode we have no control over.  Usually due to an SSD or an anti-xxxx program interfering with the game.

A clean, full re-install fixed me. 

Is there a way to fake the server to attempt the patch again?  Or make the patch available as a separate manual download as well?  Without have to do the whole enchilada?

Doing a full re-install worked, but it is a pain as I'm sure a lot of that download I didn't need.

You can create a Windows restore point before every patch. Using that should undo a failed patch.

The patch is stored in the AcesHigh III/Temp folder so you should also be able to rerun it in case it has not been corrupted during the download.

You do not need to do a restore point.  The patch utility will recognize the files that were successfully patched and only attempt to patch the ones that need to be patched.
