I catch and release usually.
Thats all I ever do,sometimes I would take a pic if the fish was worth it. I do like to eat fish, walleye being a fav of mine but most around the Great lakes are too contaminated. No fish over 21 in. should be consumed and women of child baring age and kids shouldnt eat any. Now thats fish in the Great lakes areas.
A slinky rig is were you put the lead inside a braided hollow line, fishermen first used shoe laces from hockey skates and would put lead shot inside then tie it on like a dropper. This stops most of the hang ups when fishing in rivers with lots of snags and rocks. It;s called a slinky because the lace is like a slinky or a chinese finger puzzle. They work great for trout and Salmon and I've used then fishing for walleye in a few river around me.
Guess I get to keep the prize!!!
