P-39Q "Little Sir Echo / Small Fry"
« on: June 04, 2021, 12:45:43 PM »
This is an adoption of Fencer's original skin.

This P-39Q was flown by Lyndall Tate of the 82nd TRS in mid to late 1943. Often mistaken for a P-39N, photo reference showing the under-wing gun pods makes it clear that this plane is a Q. Markings feature typical 1943 markings for New Guinea based fighters with an all white tail and wing leading edges, with a thin white band around the nose. It is unclear if the the prop spinner and nose art were white or yellow or some combination of both, so I elected to retain the use of only white in keeping with the look of Fencer's original. The only corrections I made were using the simplified U.S. insignia and changing the inscription of "Theresa" to 'Texas" as seen in the reference photo. "Little Sir Echo" is painted on both sides of the nose on the gun access panels and "Small Fry" is painted on the right side only. The gear doors were painted in design of colored scallops similar to air racers from the 1930's.

Really excellent work Devil505. Your dedication to our community is really amazing. <S>
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
