January 2022 KOTH Date.
« on: January 03, 2022, 08:12:20 PM »
Do you have what it takes to be Aces High's King of the Hill?

http://www.ahevents.net/index.php/events/koth

The first KOTH of 2022 will be will be held Saturday 22 January 2022 in SEA II at 9 PM EST, 8 pm CST, 7 pm MST, 6 pm PST.
If you didn't earn a reservation to last years TOC we start from scratch now..
Plenty of great, sweaty-palm dog fights to have for one and all. Join the fun.
Test your situational awareness and see how you do.
Winner gets 500 Melee arena perks and a TOC invitation.
Winner of the TOC gets three months of Aces High.
ALL fliers are invited to Aces High's version of a "cage match"
Peanut1's plane selection was the Mosquito Mk. VI for 2022's first chariot of battle.

Concept:
All players fly the same plane type
    Fight to the death
Winner of the round chooses the next plane
Repeat until someone wins three rounds,
which do not need to be in a row.

2022 Rule Changes
I am going to make it official that from hence forth after you win a regular season KOTH, that will add 1 to the number of rounds you need to win the event.
So, whomever wins January 2022 KOTH will have to win 4 rounds to win in February.
And thinking how that would relate to the TOC, it makes sense that if you have already won a TOC or TOCs, each TOC win would add a round to how many you need to win this year's TOC. I'll have to go back and get a TOC winners list for this one I guess.
Thinking about it and after some feedback this will be implemented for the 2023 TOC.

I'm perfectly fine with the new rules changes for KOTH events for 2022 and for the KOTH TOC event in 2023 for the 2022 TOC winner!

Makes it a lot more interesting

Sounds like an interesting rule change..

Will the winner of a KOTH need to win an additional round in the next KOTH or just the end of year tournament?

Rule change will mean:
1 Whomever wins next weekend. When we get to February, whoever won January will have to win four rounds to win February KOTH.

Boy it really makes typos easy with both thumbs and a forefinger taped up from dry and cracked digits.

And I think it follows with the TOC. You just increased by one the number of rounds you need to repeat your title.

I guess if somebody was real good and lucky and swept the first 11 events they would need to win 14 rounds to win December’s KOTH , but that the most extreme outcome.
When I put it like that I wonder if it would drive the winners away from events later in the season.
Winter finally came to Orchard Park. Breaking out the blower for the driveway.

For simplicity, you might consider making it so that any winner has to win 4 instead of three for the next event, including for the TOC.

Just one extra, no matter how many previous titles, not cumulative, just an extra 1.  I think that will present a challenge itself?

Hmm, I’ll have to think about that.
KOTH is an event where I WANT players, who attend the event and are familiar with it, to guide it and have input into rules and things like this.
Let’s see how others respond. What you think KOTHers?

Either way sounds good to me but the single extra round as Shane mentioned might be best for the majority

Turned out to be a busted wire on the DIN connector in the base

A little luck with the soldering iron and it seems to be fixed!

Hope to be there Saturday
