According to Milomorai, myself and Eagler do.

Interesting fact however, over the past year I started 4 that got locked and so did Milomorai.

 Relevance?    :headscratch:

Me

Based on the statement Americans don’t read books :old:

Majority of people on this forum do not read books.

You people have never or will never read George Orwell or James Baldwin because you cannot accept your ignorance.

Your reaction is flaying about and getting annoyed…FACT

You people have have the ability to gain knowledge yet base your world view on Wikidiot and Youtube…FACT

You people cannot name the last book you read …..FACT

Well there is starting threads that gets locked and there is commenting in anothers thread which then gets locked and it being your comments that lock it and not others...

Seems complicated lol

Just wondering when the skin got thin here as 2000 and 2008 has threads about those elections that went back and forth without these locks.

Seems like important subjects we could and should talk about but the fear of any of it costing a subscription must be a motivating factor..there were many more of us back then.

Was it when Skuzzy left?

Is Zack a librarian and thus his perversion with books? :)

And now back to the weather....

Eagler

I think I'm with Eagler on this.  It's isn't so much who starts the thread but who drags that thread in the direction that causes it to be locked.

On a side note, I think it's rule #4 that says if you can't make a positive contribution to a thread, stay out of it.  I think that rule applies more in the 'General Discussion' forum and the 'Training' forum than in the O'Club.

I also think it's possible to make a positive contribution to a thread by making a comment that offers viewpoints and/or fact that are contrary to the original post.  For myself, I try to courteous (outside of an occasional snide remark) and I wouldn't say anything (including snide remarks) that I would say in  a face to face encounter.

You're right.  It really isn't about who starts the thread, but who derails it.  :aok

Decoy,

IMO, you are a wise, intelligent, decent gentleman and though I may not agree 100% with you opinions (and visa versa) you present yourself here respectfully and deserve the same in return. There are threads that seem designed to troll for fights. There are posters that drag threads not designed for such into them. Neither should happen but they will. It seems not so much a community building exercise but a frustration thing that has already caved in on division.

On that, I like more this:

Zack are you familiar with Oxenhope or Keighley?  I spent a short time there in summer of 2007 I think it was, working on some old wind turbines.  I think they were located at Ovenden Moor, IIRC.
