Here's a pic of the Jg 11 yellow on the tail of a 110 I'm working on to get a better sense of how it reacts to light.

Seems to me that it will give you what you're looking for.

If it helps the colour I use for USAAF yellow is 200/145/40. I sometimes add a desaturation adjustment layer above this if I want a more faded appearance.

Very interesting, thanks guys.  I've imported and color-sampled the 110 tail section Devil is working on, and the only place I get close to his 177/135/37 values is the dark band along the very top edge.  Even the wider dark band just below the top edge has Red values at 225 or above.   The very brightest area reads 255/255/125.  That is pretty close to the restoration photo's bright spots.

I think I see the desaturation in Vraciu's P-51 tails.  I like those too.   I'll give Greebo's USAAF yellow value 200/145/40 a try, and desaturate it some.  This aircraft is a vet of 90 missions so the yellow should probably be somewhat faded...

Yeah, I desaturated them a lot.

I've got an earlier version of the yellow in the Rev 4 version of Jo-Baby.   It is in the Rev 5 thread.

It's much darker and more orange perhaps...

I’m excited for this one 47’s are my jam lately!
Back in 2022 after a loooooong break from 2010. Old name Ratpack, same for the BBS.

Squad I did the most tours with were the Excaliburs then The 172nd Rabid Dogs. Still trying to talk Illigaf, Coola, Oldman22, and Joecrow into coming back instead of being boring old farts!
