This skin is a adoption of Fencer's original skin, which was based on reference that cannot be substantiated; despite how prolific depictions of the scheme with a full red nose is in artwork. I have elected to replace that skin with an accurate scheme, albeit a duller one. I hope the large red numbers on the tail is a fair trade for players who liked the red nose.
P-39Q operated by 19 GIAP of the Karelian Front in late 1944. The finish of this plane in the reference photo suggest this was a late production P-39Q with factory applied Soviet markings since there is no evidence of over-painted U.S. insignia. The reference photo also shows the rear fuselage strengthening plates, likewise with no evidence of touched-up paint, adding more credence to my claim. Like other 19 GIAP Airacobras, Soviet insignias are only painted on the fuselage and lower wings. Victory markings are seen on the engine cover, two in red and two in a lighter shade that I presume to be yellow since they seem too dark to be white.
