A DJ from a local radio station acknowledged he listened to it and complimented it.

Baby steps.

Their signal reaches into Chicago from IN.

That's fantastic!  What city or town would this be? We had a DJ follow us recently on Instagram

Thank you!

Don’t take it as a huge thing, I got a favor to listen. I’m a known engineer, has lil diff weight than a listener.

The one DJ works at a local station with various shows. That said its near 2 colleges and reaches half of Chicago. If anything is played it COULD be a foot in the door in this area. This one is in Valporaso, IN. They looked, lets see if they bite.

Appreciate you doing that!

I think I know who it is. He followed us a couple days ago. Chicago has been our top city in at least that past 28 days for Spotify play. The album has close to 27,000 plays so far in total on Spotify. That includes the singles that we've been releasing though. The stats carry over to the album.

I didn’t analyze every song, but 2-3 caught my attention with hooks that should be heard. To say that about one song of 30 is s good start.

Yes, some of your songs fit the area programming.

I can hear chicks playing #1 in a country or suburban bar.

Just remember, be careful of false positives.

Its very smart to start album #2 right now. You’ll need it in 9 mos. Take your time apply what was learned. Shows you’re in it for the long haul (future biz).

These guys get stuff pushed on them by local bands every day. They tend to shy away from beggers, lets play it as the quiet get the most attention. Don’t push, amateurs do that. I never asked these guys for anything, so when I do I must be on to something.
I’m helping both you and them, IF I’m any help at all.

>IF< (massive word), you need to play the area, you have some clout and access to the best gear and engineers in the area, same as you prolly have there.

Thanks, Animl!

yeah, we don't push on stuff like this. At all. Other than the social media promos we do, we don't bug people or ask for anything.

For those interested, we have a music section on my forum. Not many members post in that section, but I think it has some nice threads that a few of you guys would like. Examples; great liver performances, gear, songs that aint bad, songs with great hooks, etc.

Kinda slippin off subject
I think Joe is a stunning player, I don't care for all the tear tugging tunes but his playing is great. He's not mainstream, but damn! Working and listening to him on stage was a treat.
A decent video on his way of amps/ monitors.

I'm not really a fan of his music, but I really like the guy as a guitar and collector/enthusiast. I think he's a pretty cool guy and I love his knowledge and love of the gear.

He’s literally a gtr player prodigy since 11 yrs old. Besides golf<story about that one day> its pretty much s one track train.

And ya, I really like about 3 songs, just a fan of his playing. Kind of a nerdy guy but s good guy.

I think the reason I like his playing is because he plays riffs we heard in older rock. Getting less likely to hear that skill in modern music.

Kinda why I backed off mixing monitors for concerts, unless its old skewl band. The skill level has dipped.

Today, unless its old vets its s hired gun or session guys going out with an artist for a tour.
Quite a few popular bands got hired guns to make them break through.

Judas Priest is one example. Had they not hired an outside gtr player they would have never got out of the rock bars. Billy Idol same thing.

An interesting video to watch on this subject is literally called “Hired Guns”.

The man gtr player in that video was hired as Joe’s gtr tech. But thr guy can play everything on a gtr. Killer player.

The day we have full bands where all are very talented has been fading.

Point being liking Joe is holding on to that old skewl type talent. Kinda like grasping AH.

Kinda why I liked working with Carol King. Most hit songs in the 70s were written by her, snd then studio was sometimes done by “The Wrecking Crew” musicians. To me one of the few who towered over the bands/players. These skills are being lost.

Joe just files a void.

Some of that old skewl pop influence creeps out of some of your tunes. That makes a mental connection association.

I’m an engineer, not a producer, so its more just educated opinion. I usually get ya after you go all through that and ready to thump a stage. :)

I like new artist who never heard what I do and watch the look on their faces. Priceless. Most new arist haven’t heard 30k-50k watts in monitors. :)

Joes singing in this one is what brought me to him.

I look at people like Joe as he sings, but I'm not calling him a "singer". All in perspective. I can say the same thing about SRV or BB King. But if you pick the right lyrics for the right voice it works.

Now I'm not crazy about blues, but a lot of passion roles through it. In this video, it's not all about his playing through a whole song, with vocals to make a song. In this case, without being center of attention, he puts more into a smaller part or a song, which makes it jump out more. I think his vocals may be holding him back. In Dislocated Boy he sounded better with a backup singer. Wait for it.

I think SRV and Joe Bonamassa were comparable in their singing talent. I like Joe more but their guitar skills make up for any shortfalls.
