So many times in bomber, you know that sucker is dead - but do you get an assist or anything?  Nope.  NIKI ho's ya you shoot off his tail, you get anything?  Nope!

Hell, actions have consequences - even in Warbirds :)

LOL Deja.  I'm sure after Honcho sleeps it off, he'll reread this and wonder what the heck he was trying to say, too.

to me it is:

you shoot the tail off of a 35k B17, but he happens to shoot off both of your wings before his plane falls apart.  He falls really slow, and you fly into the ground well before his plane does.  He gets a kill.  Now, when his plane finally hits the ground, you don't get anything.

clear as mud?

Oh I get it now...

Honcho, there is a very good thread explaining everything about this phenomenon. Do a BBS search on it... Start the search back around, oh, two years ago.

Hehe...

Well... Nah it's only an issue to people until they try and come up with a work-around.

I've completely forgot what HT's reasoning was now... but there was one, and it sounded good at the time. :) Something to do with tracking damaged (but still flyable) planes well past the time you've upped for your 3rd sortie. It was worse than that though - there was some sort of logical breakdown; some factor that made it impossible to do. I forget what it was... but it's probably the reason ya don't hear too much about the issue anymore.

What is WBs doing differently now?

I do side with ya though... if two planes HO (for eg.) and die, they both should get credit (or none).

i think what he means is:

if you affect a kill, you should be awarded the kill whether you are alive or dead.[i/]

for some reason, the other guy doesn't loose a kill if you die first and i don't get that either. if he crashes because you blew his tail off you should get the kill regardless of whether you bought the farm or not.

what are the objections? kamikaze prevention?

that my man, is why you bail out and open that chute.

If the 35k b17 bails out or hits the dirt you'll get kill. Just as long as you dont go to tower.

Sometimes when I am out of ammo in a Yak and the dogfight is intense, in a desperate act of glory I get to the closest enemy about to kill a friendly, and ram it. (translation: when I am vulching and out of ammo I like to crash against the next plane that tries to take off)

Now sometimes I am awarded the kill, sometimes he gets it. I assume this has something to do with the netcode? shouldnt I always get the kill, or both of us? we died at the same time (I aim my nose at their cockpit)
