Seeking medical advice
« on: June 08, 2002, 02:45:50 PM »
I have a brain tumor. Its about the size of a golf ball and still growing. Should I go for chemotherapy, radiation or have them try to cut it out?

Thanks for any help, you guys are the greatest  ;)

Hell, Gunthr.....sorry to hear that...

My advice is.....to ask a doctor who you trust. Noone will give you a better advice than him.

You'll be in my thoughts...hold on and win this battle!.

You will need to be circumsized so it doesnt spill over to other vital organs, like the colon ;)

You might have a weird sense of humor ,because I see no fun in that message.

It is quite possible to have a tumor of the size you said in the original post. It is quite possible to be scared as hell enough to ask such a thing as "what should I do". It would be not really smart to ask such a thing here, but who knows. I've seen worse things in this BBS in the 2 years I've been around.

Anyway, and for what it matters, I thought you were serious not because it sounded more or less plausible, but because with certain things I think is of BAD taste to make jokes about. I know I won't ever do jokes about that -and I'm renowned for having a real twisted sense of humor-, and I take that noone would really make fun of such a serious thing as a brain tumor is.

That's why I thought you were serious. As simple as that.

I would have guessed that the little smiley at the end of the post would have given away his intent.  But maybe thats just me.

My apologies. It was satire. I believe I'll go amputate now.

according to an english dictionary:

Satire: The use of mockery, irony, or wit to attack or ridicule something, such as a habit, idea or custom which is considered to be foolish or wrong.

Maybe you think that a brain tumor is something to ridiculize, or joke about. I definitely don't. Any further comment on this topic is useless from my point of view. Your sposts speak by themself.

You should edit it to say " I have a benign brain tumor."

Oh brother, you're an evil person now Gunthr.  How dare you attempt to make a joke about any serious subject.
