I could not make it but sure enjoy reading them. ;)

Best news I heard was one of my squadies (puke) shot down ammo. :D Ever since that treacherous former Mongrel left to form his own successful squad flying those fat jugs he has been on my most wanted list. ;)

Yup, he busted me up pretty good:) puke! Not only did he get me, but by me following that 190 down to the deck to kill him, I drug my entire flight of five P-47's down too. We were then jumped by 4 more 190's which got us. the 56th FG was split into two flights, blue (led by sancho) and red (led by me). Was a great frame! I really am enjoying this campaign.

I was going round and round with a P-47 on the deck and gaining when another P-47 came over with 2 Mongrels on him and blew my wing off with a great front quarter shot!!  Nice shooting whoever that was!  :)

I should have reversed right,  I should have reversed right,  I should have reversed right, I should have rev................  :)

Once again great frame.

USAAF really did a fine job with the fighter sweeps this frame. I flew with the Damned and we had our hands full evading the fighters while searching for the B17's.

While covering the southern portion of Germany we encountered many advancing P51's that chased us off at every opportunity. Once when I felt we had snuck into position a few P47 escorts roared over us and chased us away. They sucessfully split up our little group and I found myself alone and south of the 17's.

About an hour into the frame,I was able to work my way back to the B17's as they were approching A1. I managed to sneek in and kill 1 B17 but I was then jumped by more high escorts and forced to evade.

I then joined up with a squadie and decided to RTB for gas and ammo. Alas, my gear was either damaged by gunfire from the 17 I killed or I screwed the landing because my gear failed while taxing to the rearm pad and my night was done.

I know of 5 or 6 B17 kills that the Damned recorded. Cant wait to see the logs to really figure it out:)

Salute to the Allied Escorts. You guys really did a fine job and enabled your 17's to get through. I repeatedly tried to get some of you to chase me down but none were taking the bait. Well done!

Ammo, thanks.  It should be noted that I didn't get you because of any hot-shot moves, but rather because I got lucky and happened to be in a position of advantage and that's all.

The whole thing was an excellent fight.  One minute we are jumped by a whole gaggle of P-51Bs with a few P-47s coming in on us just afterward and forcing us and the fight to the deck and the next minute the P-51Bs are gone.  Then there were P47s that kept appearing on our tails.    Was fun!

412th bagged a whole bunch of FW190s with our P51Bs...

We got about 8 or so for the loss of only a couple of our guys.  I bagged 2 so it was a good frame for me. :)

WTG all involved, was a blast!

MAG-33:
15 launched.  10 min before target, 190's were all over us.  It was hard to distinguish the "separate wings" of 190's, as the flow of them was similiar to a waterfall.....our Escort gets a BIG as they performed their job above and beyond the call of duty.  They had perfect position for the initial attacks and kept alot of us alive!

Target was hit (Factory) but some miscalculations and late orders by some pilots caused the City of Wiesbaden to take heavy damage as well.  Many civilians were killed or wounded, and a fire storm erupted that made Dresden look like a back yard BBQ.  High command regrets this incidence but acknowleges that "War is hell and everyone is subject to it".

During ingress and egress, MAG-33 lost over 40% of its B17's.  An unacceptable number during wartime for real, big WTG LW.  Nice work, and the slashing attacks worked best!

In total:

15 launched
8 RTB'd
7 lost
10 enemy fighters confirmed killed by gunners.
75% of primary (Factory) destroyed.
95% of city destroyed.

Special recognition to Vulcan who had at LEAST 3 confirmed kills with his gunning skills.

DAMNED Launched 13 190-A8's.

We headed off to our assigned sector and waited for the B17's to arrive.

Getting the A8 above 25K was not to badd - Flying and fighting effectively was a different MATTER !

WE spotted the B17's trying to sneak in across the bottom row of the map. We called in the locations top the rest of hte LW Hoping we could get some ready reserves to help us out !

We knew after our first pass we would be at a disadvantage so we tried to get postioned for a first good run.

Unfortuneatly the Fighter sweeps did agood job of breaking us up since we knew we could not go 1 on one with the escorts at that alt.

We did not get as many passes as we wanted - I died via typing - I keep trying to use the old AW Radio key - need to REMAP THAT !

Once we were either engaged or damaged I had them to return to base. The closest base was so close tothe running battle at Franfurt that it made no sence to try to re-arm and fly a 2nd mission for those that made it back so we saved the air frames for another frame.

CONGRATS to the US Escorts for covering your Bombers very well.

Congrats to my pilots for doing the best they could !

See you all next Friday EVE !

LOL!  Sounds like you need to fly in the MA more often, Jordi - you would soon get used to the radio keys then!    :D

Shillelagh upped 12 pilots in 190 A5s.

We flew to our stagging point, but when we got there it was apparent that the buffs were avoiding this corridor. We noticed that they were sitting in the SW corner of th map, and figured it was an attempt to run us out of fuel.

We heading out to intercept this raid (after saying as much on channel 2... Someone accused us of being "lost" if I recall lol) but it looked like we were not going to have the fuel to even make a pass at the formation, so we landed refueled and relaunched and reformed  without incident. Well there was one "Incident" My rudder fell out of calibration (my joystick porks at the most inopportune times lol) so I had to try to recall it in flight, but the problem was that I couldn't get the autopilot to stay engaged because the plane kept changing attitude.. I was able to get everything fixed, but I had to turn command over to -RY- for the refueling, as I had become .seperated during my adventures in hardware. luckily I was able to catch up with the squad on the ground.

We couldn't reach the buff before they hit the target (sorry Jordi, it was not for lack of trying).  But we hit them after the attack. We hit them in two waves, the first flight making a pretty good slash across the lead plane. I believe that we hit the formation without taking any pings from the bombers.  As we were lining up to make a second pass our secont flight dove in on them. Then, as everything was going so well... I can't believe this happened... I was typing a sit-rep for the allied CO, when all of a sudden I started taking pings. I thought for sure that a Jug had caught up to us and jumped me. As I looked back though, I had wandered into the path of another B-17. I was jumped by a buff! He got my engine, but I was able to make two more passes, and keep the gunners attention for a while.

My engine died at 25k, and I had to start thinking about where I was going to eat lunch. I was southeast of Bonn, and there were mountains EVERYWHERE. I made for the City figureing that any road or farm will do, and lined up with a flat area near the port. I spiraled down, killing alt and keeping some speed, then leveled out on approach. As I got closer and closer to the field, I noticed those little dots were getting bigger and bigger.... the whole field was strewn with BOULDERS! I had deceided to land in some sort of rock quarry lol. It was harry, I'm not sure how I managed, but I slid to a stop in between the chunchs of granit, and sat for a while listening to the radio.

The escorts did catch up, and heard the frantic death calls of some of my squadmates as they engaged some P-51s. This was one of the best performances by a voice actor on AH Voice, as -04- struggled to survive a low alt engagement in a 190a5. It really added to the immersion. I think we got one of the escorts, but between the escorts and the gunners, we were a total loss. 10 planes shot down, 2 planes ditched.

We confirmed two B-17 kills, with several others damaged. I absolutely plastered one, so hopefully he died sooner or later lol.
to everyone, that was a total blast! And people, Watch the Movie "12 O'Clock High" before friday. It will give you a whole new prespective on this TOD.

Oh, and Big to the Damned who took one for the team with those escorts. Without them we wouldn't have been able to hit the buffs at all.

-Sikboy

[edit] I just checked the scores, we got 3 B-17s and one P-51b

"Jumped by a buff!"

Sounds like Vulcan,:) it was all I could do to prevent him from turning around and "trolling" thru the LW fighters.  He ended up with 4 confirmed, (Swoop with 3) giving MAG-33 a total of 13 kills with 7 losses.
