Can't find a box anywhere to get rid of the icon, working on the drivers right now.

Tried several updated drivers (used Detonator Destroyer),  still have the stutters. :(

Ques .. What is your AGP Aperture set at?  Try 256

I think Big Max is right .. try his advice and then reinstall DX8x again.

I had to turn off auto-hide on the windows task bar or I get a flickering line at the bottom in AH.  I have flashing icons, but they don't seem to bother it.

Whoo hoo!!!  C'mere Gunner, lemme lay a nice wet one on ya!! :D  Ditching the auto-hide seems to have done the trick, now I just need to figure out why my sound quit working after installing new video drivers.  Thank you to everybody that responded. :)

try reinstalling DX8x again .. go into DxDiag and do the  sound test.
