bring the me163 to AH..
« on: September 22, 2001, 10:41:00 AM »
Why not?   Non perked.   Anyone who wants to strap a rocket on his bellybutton should be able to.  They really wouldn't be much good as fighters or fighter interceptors but....

suicide buff killers supreme...  A guy could furball to his hearts content and then when he seen a lone, attention starved suicide buffer lumbering over his field in order to drop the fighter hangers, spoil the fite and lumber off or die....  He could simply grab a 163, blast on up there and kill said annoying and unrealistic buff in a timeframe that is usefull  (BEFORE the FH's are dropped)..   Better yet... some would find this "fun" so I wouldn't have to personally do it.

Me-163? Not before Meteor III, please.

Absolutely!
Although, it must be said that the fuel multiplier will make it interesting.
You get in, hit the button, take off, get to 4,000 feet and the thing sputters and dies.
 :D
If Buffing were made more interesting (challenging bombsight, for example; exciting and rewarding targets that need 4 bombers to put a dent in them, really fancing explosion graphics), that might help too.

Im all for it! Make the Me-163's weapons NOT work until past 25k.

This would be perfect anti-strato buff bs problem.

I think you mean 40,000 feet, but I could be wrong.

Didn't they carry something like 6 minutes of fuel?

lazs if you honestly think an un perked me163 would be used only to intercept 30k b17s then you are mistaken.

unperked the me163 would be used at every vulched field, every place where the enemy is high or even low but higher than you.

it would be as bad as the chog.

perke dit would be a neat and rare wepon like the ta152

Meteor III? The only Meteor to see some kind of action during the war was the MK.I, and it only saw actions against V's. The Me163 on the other hand got a few bomber kills.

Add the Meteor Mk.1, np with that.

Yes Kieren, 6 minutes of fuel is enough to get that rocket to 40k  :)

As far as using it as a base defense/chog like plane, thats why I said to have its gun be active ONLY after 25k.

Otherwise it would be extremely unbalancing.

The only way it could be used as base defense in this scenario would be if its used to RAM other planes.. and we know hard it is for a super fast plane to ram a slow plane (that can turn lazily and evade lol).

Yeah sure why not  :) Bring on the rocket (or the 'Komet' ?)  :D And what about 'Wasserfal' and 'Schmeterling' radar guided surface to air missile defence systems for HQs? If my info is correct those systems have seen action during WW2 (although limited) but it would make the gameplay more interesting and it would increase the need of more buffs actually making it to the HQ... And now flame me to death    :p

I'm sorry Wilbus, but you're wrong.  :)

No. 616 Squadron was the first operational fighter squadron to be equipped with the Meteor F Mk.1, on 12 July 1944.

Like all squadrons operating the type, their complement of Mk.1s were replaced by Mk.III by January 1945, at which point they were despatched to the 2nd Tactical Air Force in Belgium.

20 Mk.1s were built during WW2, compared to 210 Mk.IIIs.

I meant 4,000 feet. I was exaggerating, of course.
6 min of fuel at 2.5X fuel mult = 2 minutes, 24 seconds of fuel.  Give it a 30 sec takeoff  roll, and two minutes at optimum climb, and you might hit 15k before running out of gas.

Yep - with the fuel burn multiplier you might hit about 20k, if you're lucky(Messerschmitt figures say 2'27" to 6km).

Real life ceiling of the Me 163B was about 51,000ft.

Feeling nostalgic Lazs?

What ver of WB was the pic below of anyway?

After reading the story behind the Me 163 in WB, it kinda explains any hesitation by HT or Pyro to add it to AH  :)

(See  http://dns.mikrobitti.fi/~jukkak/wb/eastereggs/eastereggs.htm  for more info)
