I noticed on my flight panel the combat trim light is on.  What does this do?

Combat trim is basically a way to simulate the feel of the plane, since you can't physically feel the inertia and the way a plane reacts when stressed, such as when it's about to stall out. The help page for combat trim can be found here :

Combat Trim is basically the feature that auto-trims your aircraft within a certain envelope as your plane transitions through various flight conditions.  This way you don't have to keep manually trimming your aircraft as your speed and altitude changes.  Some people swear that you get an advantage in a fight with it turned off but I think this is a myth that was taken cared of back in ver. 1.04 as expressed in the link above.

Dtango,

If you just turn it off, no you don't get an advantage...especially if your speed changes.  You do, however, gain an advantage over CT if you manually trim the plan yourself.  This can most certainly be seen in the 109's.
