First may I say that the new influx of players is fantastic. Although I am only about to round the 1-year mark with AH it is refreshing to fly with new pilots, friend and foe alike. There have been two large influxes of people while I have been around. The first was at the rate drop and the second has been slowly strung out and coming to head with the demise of Air Warrior.
I’m not sure if all the people who have been posting on this BBS actually fly AH. What I am sure of is all the talk about AW/WB/AA/FA, or whatever other anachronism you want to put together to make a flight SIM is getting tiresome. There have been posts in the past discussing different SIM’s but as far as I know they have all been new releases. The talk mostly about what’s expected, the unknown. (And of course the “it’ll be the best thing since individually wrapped cheese slices” ) I understand the response’s from some of the AH community to our displaced brethren.
Regardless of what some of the new players may think, IMO, the AH community is rather accepting. I have found them to be a very good bunch of people who I have enjoyed flying with for quite some time now. I have also found that more than a few of them have been around computer flight simulations almost since the inception of pong
. Sure there are some high strung personalities floating around but that just adds to the enjoyment and diversity.
We are all here to fly and discuss AH. Well, at least I am. The AH community is mature enough that should they want to try another SIM they probably already know about it and have chosen not to. Or, maybe they do. The point is while in AH, let’s discuss AH. I’m not implying to stifle new ideas in game play as it was used with other SIM’s. Why don’t we just go about it in a different way?
If you fly AH, cool. Throw some suggestions out for 1.09. Talk about the new strategy system. Hell, talk about the damn damage model of a palm tree. Just talk about AH.
