There is no such thing as too much memory.
For smooth sailing in Windows XP and newer progams, 256 is not plenty, its just barely enough.

u can bet by this christmas 256 will likely be the minimum for any sort of decent gaming performance in systems running anything less than w2k and XP, which will be 512 +)

-Pentium IV 1.4 Ghz
-1 GB RAM
-GeForce 3 64MB video card
-19" KDS monitor
-Thrustmaster Fox 2 Pro FF joystick
-Cable modem through Cox cable
-Windows ME
-Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound, with 4 speaker surround sound + subwoofer
-40 GB HD

I get a monitor limited 75 FPS frame rate.  It is rock steady at almost all times.  On extremely rare occasions, fr might drop slightly below that, but anything below 60 fps would be so rare that I can hardly remember the last time it happened.  I suspect that with a different monitor, my frame rate would be far beyond 75 but why bother.  Game runs smoothly at all times and I have never had the CTD problem that others have suffered.  Before the last patch, I would occasionally (maybe twice a day) get a CTD when hitting the runway button from the hangar.  The last patch seems to have fixed that though.  In short, I cant complain about frame rate, lag, warpiness or CTDs.  Well, actually there are the occasional warpers but not common enough to really be annoying.  This system and connection seems to handle AH very well.

Only thing I really need is a new microphone, as anybody that has ever heard me on voice comms can attest!:D

Come on, be real.  Think about all of the higher resolution graphics, XP, Photoshop 7.0, and you realize that 256mb ain't toejam.

Best advice I ever got....Buy a $10.00 Mic from radio shack.

Works better than any $40.00 heaset/Boom mic I ever owned.

I think my system wins so far :)

Anyway, with all this data that so many have posted, there seems no obvious reason as to why the graphics engine cannot be expanded to something of more warbirds 3.. or Il2 standards.

Correct?
