It seems that the "older" planes which were introduced long, long time ago, have some problems.

There are areas of the plane which are not textured, thus, cannot change the color. Also, some of the planes have bugs in it which was never identified until now - the P-38L, for instance, doesn't have any texture on its right aileron.

This P-38 thing is terribly vexing. That's the plane I really want to play with, and aside from the texture bugs you mentioned the texture files themselves are annoyingly spartan. It's extermely difficult to tell what goes where on the 38. Suppose we'll just play with the Dora a bit for now. Or the 47.

I do have a question though, is it necessary to mke a basic map to actually test the planes out in game, or are there some compatible maps already made that can be modified to include these new skins?

Or is there some possible way to make the skins 'default', and appear in the MA? Maybe too much to ask for

Dessy,

The skins are part of a terrain and will only show in that terrain.  You will need to build a map to use them.

sorry frenchy. looks like not a whole lot of thought was put into future custom skin jobs when that model and others were uv mapped. :(

here's hoping htc updates a few of the models... if not with complete 3d redo's at least with some minor tweaks to the UV mapping.

I'll say.

I've finished on the first version of the Bf109F-4 trop.

While working on it, I've met a problem where some of the
lines won't match, and had to put numbers on the template
to see which part was assigned to the problem area.

It seems some parts of the template are not used(even if
there are schemes on it), some parts are "flipped" when it
is put onto the plane, other parts are left out.

I actually had to flip only a certain part of the template to
get it displaying properly on the plane.

Haven't tried if some of the recent planes are easier to do,
but I agree.. the older planes are a nightmare to work on.

The Dora is absolutely wonderful to work with, heaven after you've struggled with the 38 or another extremely buggy plane.

guys can one of you send me a simple terrain so i can display my 190d9 conversion?

i have the bmp.'s but i cant look at the aircraft. I have edited the bmps a little but i dont know how to veiw it on an aircraft.

do i have to build a map to look at my coverted bmp.s?

also when i picked the 190d9 then saved texture as the help file said it did not create the /myterr/ folder which the help file refers to. Its all very confusing
please help guys. btw is there any way i can use a map from the many H2H maps ive downloaded? can they be put into the editor and edited further or are they a completely different type of file once uploaded to HTC and then downloaded as a map??
is there any default maps n the editor maybe?

anyway heres a jpg of the edited BMPs:

oops ill repost below
