<>  to u all

    got just a quick ????

i've seen a multitude of pics, screen shots , etc. etc. on the AH BB.

the other day i tried to reply to a thread and i wanted to insert a pic w\ my post. but when all was said and done the BB said my attachment had to many bytes. so far no prob, but how does every one else get it done?????
i tried using Winzip but either i'm to much of a NEWB or just stupid, but it did'nt work either way so if u guys would inform me of what i'm either doing wrong, or not doing at all i would greatly appreciate it

You will get that message if your picture is more than 102400 bytes, so the first thing you need to do is make it smaller by opening it up in something like Paintshop Pro and resizing it.  Also, original screenshots are in .bmp format which tend to be very large, so saving it in .jpg format will further reduce the size.... maybe cropping the picture too will help.  Once it is under 102400 bytes, it should attach without any problems.  :)

Get a program to do it.

Vuepro is a nice simple one you can download to do it.

Quick and Easy way to do it.

Open up your "Paint Program" Click File, Find and Open that screenshot.

After you have the pic infront of you go to File, Save as, then at the bottom it will say "Save Image As" And you click the arrow to scroll down to JPG.  Save the file like on your hardrive for easy access.

I'd recommend getting the GIMP , the single most powerful image manipulation program under the GPL (Open Source and free !)

nono, Do NOT do this, unless you have some sort of advanced image editor(Which seems unlikely)

Paint in winXP is capable of saving jpegs, but they come out with minimal compression.  Something more advanced like vuepro, (or gimp if you want more control over the exact quality/size) will achieve far smaller file sizes, with similar quality.

I havnt actuallly had the chance to test it, would you be willing to help me?  Unfortunatly I don't have XP(win2k) so i can't test it myself.

Take a random photo or screenshot bitmap.  Save a copy as a jpeg with paint, zip them both up and email them to me(sirrobin@interniq.org)

Well, it's how I do it....  I normally use either PaintShop Pro or ACDSee....

But both of those are advanced image editors.  The point I was trying to make is just not to use windows paint to do it.

Windows Paint is easier...

The "Advanced" quote might differ from people to actually try to do it.

I can convert the images the Advanced way as well, but was just sharing the way i used to do it, before i started using more complicated documents.
