The numbers on there are for real, I know plenty of guys on the boards who have these mods and have verified ET/MPH/WHP.

You can get the parts cheaper other places if you want to engineer it yourself (a lot of guys do) but the Vishnu kits are integrated and well tested.

If I still have the car when the warranty expires I will probably install a Stage Zero kit.

PS The bone stock car has 3 cats, one in the uppipe (between exh. manifold and turbine inlet) and two more after the turbo.  You can still pass smog with the uppipe cat removed (Stage Zero) but for Stage 1 and beyond you will be doing a lot labor to get the car smogged.

It's all rumors these days unfortunately my bet is they will be $28k to 30k to remain competitive. If it is more then I wont be getting one.

pretty cool funked... you do know that you can buy a vortec supercharger for a v8 for 2 grand?   you can buy a 502ci 502 hp motor for 5 grand..  you can now buy a 750hp  crate engine direct from GM.

engines are easy... the drivelines is where is get's tough... I might feel a little out of my depth with the subie transaxle apart all ove my garage floor.   then again.... maybe not.   I am just an old dinasour who is unable to come to terms with modern tech.   I have yet to ride in a 12 sec ricer..  The ones that claimed to be put me back in the seat like a high 13 car.   Maybe when I ride in a real good one I will warm to them somewhat... still.... what is that horrible noise they make?    the rap music of internal combustion.

PS WRX is a lot different from a typical rice rocket.  It's not a high RPM car at all.  Mid range torque is very strong.  Most of the Honda VTEC motors don't get on the really hot cam until 6000 rpm, but the WRX has full boost from about 3000 rpm.  And the AWD launch is something that RWD cars just can't match.  If WRX is going to win a drag race it's in the 0-30 mph and 1/8 mile area.  They aren't so great at higher speeds because they are shaped like a brick.

And yeah I looked at the transaxle shop manuals and it rivaled some of the stuff I used to deal with back in my B-2 bomb door days as far as complexity.  Three LSD's on the STi model.  No titanium parts though.  But I'd prefer to deal with it as I did with the B-2 stuff - sit there and boss around the union guys and let them get dirty trying to put all them little gears together correctly.  :)

Your WRX reaches max torque about 1000 rpm before my M54 does, but then I'm not sure what your redline is ( I believe your torque is similiar though, roughly 215-220?)  Redline in my M54 is 6200 (governed) and 7000 with a chip (Ungoverned)

M54's LOVE high rpms, thus the reason max torque isn't achieved until roughly 4200 RPM.

My redline is 7000 and I think the limiter kicks in around 7200.  The few times I have hit the limiter I was too busy to look at the tach.  :)

It's pretty good at high RPM but not as good as my old Civic Si with the B16 motor.  The power curve on that thing climbed all the way up to the 8200 rpm rev limit.  Sounded like a freaking F1 car.  :)

The US spec WRX is detuned a bit from the JDM and Australian versions which have variable valve timing and more boost.  Those ones have a bit more torque in the lowest and highest parts of the rev range.

Those new S2000 have all the peek power from like 5000-9000 RPM band talk about streching the rubberband..

Rip you know what the redline is on the BMW Z  M package??


I think most of the new 4-bangers high performace run in the 7's.. Mine runs 7200 at limiter..

Be advised they have a very conservative dyno.  But it gives you an idea of what is happening at different RPMs.
