How come you guys ( UK nannys) love to demonize inanimate objects (guns) instead of people?

Well at least be consistant and ban alcohol. The numbers do not lie.

Alcohol is much more a threat to your lives than guns have ever been.

I love the hypocrisy.

A study in 2000 in Sweden reports that Alcohol is implicated in ALMOST HALF of ALL unatural DEATH.

It would sure be safer to ride on an airplane without the famous "Manchester Drunks".  

Its gotten so bad on international flights to the USA, they installed a jail at the airport in Gander Newfoundland just to handle them. Planes divert there all to often to drop of the unruly drunks.

I always thought that just like in the US in the UK the second amendment to the constitution said that everybody should be allowed to carry liquor and/or any other alcoholic refreshment to rise against their government if deemed necessary by them. Why ban it? It's a constituonal right! :D

Bottom line is it still takes a human.

Alcohol sitting on the shelf untouched is no danger.

The real reason the UK wont ban alcohol ( or even cigarettes) is that they make to much money from it. Thus the hypocrisy.

Even though Alcohol is implicated as the cause of 33,000 deaths a year in the UK ( and is on the verge of ruining the health care system), you don't hear a peep about wanting to ban it.

This makes me wonder weather peeple like Beet1e are hypocrits when they focus on guns.

Of the 7 ot 8 hundred deaths a year before the gun bans in the UK, how many did guns have a role in? Even if people with guns caused ALL the homicides in the UK, that would be a small fraction of the number killed do to alcohol.

Isn't a socialist government supposed to  ban everything people misuse? Let's see some consistancy over there before you point to the gun laws of the US.

Ban alcohol in the UK or continue turning a blind eye to what it is doing to people and your country.

And you feel you are so much more civilzed.
You can live without alcohol can't you? It doesn't have any practical use does it?

A great big :rolleyes: for this thread.

The US tried to ban alcohol in the 30s..remember.  Didn't work out too well though did it?  In fact it was directly responsible for an huge increase in gun related ganster crime.  I'd say the Brits learned from American stupidity on that score and won't attempt to make the same mistake.

Your freedom to drive cars at speeds faster than 55mph has been eliminated.  It is a governemnt control imposed on your people to try and reduce deaths attributed to accidents on your highways..I don't hear you yelling "socialism" on that score.   Why not?  Or am I wrong and this isn't someone living in a glass house throwing stones?

Bans on alcohol are as effective as bans on guns.

Maybe since the UK has no guns, an alcohol ban wont result in huge increases in gun related crime.... right?

And The speed limit is 75 mph where I live, so I guess you are wrong on the issue.

So, you live next to a rural interstate highway?  They are the only roads in Arizona that have the 75mph limit.  All others are listed as 55mph according to the information I have seen.  But, it doesn't matter...your rights have been violated by only allowing 75mph on these roads...how can you allow such a thing?
