AH voice missing

i downloaded the current download,  when my computer crashed, and i don't have aces high voice,

i have re-installed the ah game three times it doesn't dseem to fix it

shouldn't there be a file called AH vioce?

no voice is frustrating

i didn'r realize i missed it that much

please help...merry christmas!

Voice is built-in to Aces High and no longer an external program.

The network switch could be related to firewalls, anti-virus programs, general problems with your connection to your ISP...Lot of things could be the culprit here.

What does a trace/PingPlot to 216.91.187.37 look like?

my isp provider says all thier settings are automatic, there is no way to check them

I have my virus turned off, all my web page settings on "low"

basically my pants are around my ankles and i'm bent over...still nothing...

i am basically inafective to my squad, and it makes flying how should i say...boring.

i never knew how much the new voice has changed aces high till i was rendered deaf and mute.

Hey roofer.

There have been a lot of bug complaints about AH voice vanishing. I don't think anyone's found a common cause, yet.
It started happening to me some time ago; was never able to put my finger on what changed with my configuration to cause it, but I did find a workaround.

Do your squadies say you transmit a sort of squawling noise when you key the mic?  You can test and see what others hear when you transmit by tuning channel 5 directly to your own gameid (i.e. type in roofer, if that's your handle online, and close the radio interface by hitting 'enter').  
Key the yellow channel and speak into the mic.  After a short delay you'll hear what others hear.

Every time I have to boot my computer, I lose AH vox and start transmitting an electronic squawl.  Here's what I do to fix it:

Go to settings>constrol panel>sounds and multimedia, and click the 'voice' tab and run the sound hardware wizard.  
Once I do this, my AH vox works fine -- until the next time I have to boot the 'puter.
(Sorry, I have Windows Me, your path could be different...)

At the risk of hijacking the thread, if Skuzzy has an idea why I might be losing vox when I boot -- and only when I boot -- I'd be listening...
I have my computer's oem sound card, a Creative Soundblaster AudioPCI 64V (WDM).  Sound acceleration is set to 'standard.'

If you have a firewall or router make sure UDP connection for AH is enabled, as the switch to tcp error message is significant. Sometimes it will switch to tcp when net traffic is particularly bad, but my vox always made sqawking noises when tcp only was getting through and nothing was heard from my squad or anyone else, it seems to need good udp connection for vox.

If its not router or firewall, then it could be your ISP blocking udp, which they should be able to tell you.

p.s. Run the dx diagnostics (dxdiag in run box) and turn down sound hardware acceleration a notch -see if that helps.

that is the only thing that is different on my system, that i think could be the problem...or maybe i'm wrong

That is normal for on-board sound chips, as long as you DO hear sounds using the software buffer tests, the hardware ones are ignored by directX and you get the message above. I assume you have an on board sound chip. These work perfectly well in AH usually.

If sound disappears after it is present after a reboot its more likely you have a conflict in sharing with another PCI device, so what is the sound chip interupt sharing with  (use system information in accessories menu and the interupt listing there to find out. )
It will probably need moving to another interupt to cure your problem.

If you have re-installed directX 8.1 it won't be a problem with directX.

 DX Buster/Remover (works great with DX9)
Hiya's,
Found a DX remover that works fine with DX9

Goto link and d/load it http://pcmedicdirect.com/downloads/...ter/dxb133e.exe

It will install into prog files
Run it and you will see 3 tabs with step options 1/2/3
Goto 3rd tab and click start
It will ask ok to proceed etc
After that it will ask for a reboot
When back in windose install DX version you want
DX will ask to reboot

Job Done

Works with 9x and 2000 i believe
My OS is now 98SE and i removed DX9 back to DX8.1 easy as pie

Hope this helps anyone who is getting slight freezing after upgrading to DX9

In my experience, it's the on board cards that are the problem.  I had a CMEDIA onboard sound, because at the time I skimped out on the SBLive for a couple weeks.  Once I put the SBLIVE in, I have had 0, none, zip VOX drop outs.  spend a few bucks 30 i think and get a SBLIVE OEM card.
