The "what-if" planes (as I call them) are the ONE thing which has NOT been done by AH's competition.  It's something new, a niche for AH.

If we get a Bearcat does that mean we could get a Kikka or a Shinden too?

Just curious is all.

(Adding to Mr. T's {SW's} comment)

Or at the very least the A7M2, of which there were production aircraft.

Personally, at this point I'd like to see more non-perk aircraft because I find that I cannot enjoy using them at their current cost (except the F4U-1C, which I could enjoy as far as the price goes, just not as far as the aircraft goes).

According to one book: "Great Book of WWII Airplanes", only 8 prototypes were created before serious material shortages, allied bombing and a destructive earthquake prevented more from being completed.

Of course I'm not saying we should NOT get the A7M2 (looks very nice), just I'd like to know what source you are using Karnak. Also, what do you think about the J2M3 Raiden? 470 models were built, but do you think it would be deemed a "perk" plane because of it's speed and climb (but short duration..)?

I'm interested in seeing more "never before modelled" Japanese planes.

SW,

I have used various sources (I'm at work so I don't have my books available) but all of the list from 1 to 7 production A7M2's in addition to the prototypes.  As far as I know the A7M2 never saw combat.

As far as the J2M3 goes, I think it should be added but I don't think it should be a perk.  It isn't that fast and it doesn't climb that well.  The only Japanese plane that had production airframes that would be a perk is the A7M2.  The Ki84 might qualify as a perk, but maybe not as well.

J2M3 Raiden "Jack"

Engine: Mitsubishi MK4R-A Kasei 23a 14-Cyl. Radial, 1820hp
Empty Weight: 5,675 lbs.
Loaded Weight: 7,573 lbs.
Max. Overload: 8,700 lbs.
Max. Speed: 380 mph
Initial Climb: 3,610 ft./min
Armament: Two 20mm Type 99 Cannon in wings, two 20mm Type 99-II Cannon in wings

A7M2 Reppu "Sam"

Engine: Mitsubishi MK9A eighteen-cylinder air-cooled radial rated at 2,200 hp for take-off, 2,070 hp at 1,000 m and 1,800 hp at 6,000 m, driving a four-blade constant-speed metal propeller
Empty Weight: 7,112 lbs.
Loaded Weight: 10,406 lbs.
Max. Speed: 390 mph at 21,655
Average Rate of Climb to 19,685ft: 3,280ft.
Armament: Four wing-mounted 20-mm Type 99 Model 2 cannon with 200 rpg, or two 20-mm Type 99 Model 22 cannon with 200 rpg and two 13.2-mm Type 3 machine guns with 400 rpg

J7W1 Shinden  Note: There were no production aircraft at this type, but I have seen claims that there were production models in various stages of completion

Engine: One Mitsubishi [Ha-43] 12 (MK9D) eighteen-cylinder air-cooled radial, rated at 2,130 hp for take-off, 2,020 hp at 1,180 m and 1,160 hp at 8,700 m, driving a six-blade metal pusher
Empty Weight: 8,036 lbs.
Loaded Weight: 11,525 lbs.
Max. Speed: 405 knots (466 mph, I think)
Average Rate of Climb to 26,246ft: 2,460ft.
Armament: Four forward-firing nose-mounted 30 mm Type 5 cannon

Ki84 Hayate "Frank"

Engine: Nakajima Homare Ha-45 II
1,900hp 18 cylinder radial
Empty Weight: 5,684 lbs.
Loaded Weight: 8,267 lbs.
Max. Speed: 388 mph
Average Rate of Climb to 16,500ft: 2,750 ft.
Armament: Two Nose Mounted 12.7 mm. Ho-103 Machine Guns and Two Wing Mounted 20 mm. Ho-5 Cannons
