“There was a machine designed for shredding plastic. Men were dropped into it and we were again made to watch. Sometimes they went in head first and died quickly. Sometimes they went in feet first and died screaming. It was horrible. I saw 30 people die like this. Their remains would be placed in plastic bags and we were told they would be used as fish food . . . on one occasion, I saw Qusay [President Saddam Hussein’s youngest son] personally supervise these murders.”

This is one of the many witness statements that were taken by researchers from Indict — the organisation I chair — to provide evidence for legal cases against specific Iraqi individuals for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. This account was taken in the past two weeks.

Hiya,

Ann Clwyd

Member of Parliament
Party: Labour
Backbencher

Constituency: Cynon Valley
Liberal Democrat target 516
Swing required to lose seat: 24.10%

Ann Clwyd says:
On her proudest achievement in parliament since 1997: "Some of the campaigns I have been particularly active in pursuing: speeding up the miners' compensation scheme; regulating cosmetic surgery; opposing the Ilisu Dam scheme in Turkey; bringing Iraqi war criminals to justice."

Previous occupation
Broadcasting; Journalism; Teacher

Seems to be true about the article then don't it

That's nothing (if one can imagine being shredded alive as nothing)

Wait until more witnesses/survivors comeout safe from this

I think some people will feel sick when the true extent and methods of saddams regime is made public :(

It's certainly not for the crimes committed on a daily basis; that never bothered us before.

More like a balance of factors.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

I know that there are lots of untrue stories about Saddam and his cronies brutality.

What's worse, I know that in reality it is probably worse than what some of these stories allege.

But he did that back in the 80's when the US supported him. Convenient to use it now, but cannot be used as an argument for war. Not  without it being inconsistent with US tacit support for him in the past, well knowing his methods.

Still, let's blow this diddlying murderous bastard to hell!

Is the Times one of your reputable papers over there?

I have found some other rather ugly stuff at Amnesty International but I have found no other reference to the "shredder" accusation as yet.

So the lady is not some "in from outer space nutbag"?

She needs at least one more vowel in her last name, two would be even better.

The us has said for the reason the invasion of Iraq is regime change because Saddam and his wmd are threat to the US, his neighbors and the world.

On top of that he is an evil bastard which makes it an "easier arguement".

Even Blair said Iraqs oil is the property of the Iraqi people and they deserve all the wealth it brings them.

Saddam being a bad guy isnt ther number 1 reason we are after him, hes a bad guy with bad friends and has bad weapons and has done bad things with those bad weapons.

Yah, I pretty much agree with that but "bad guy" is perhaps a major understatement if this is indeed the sort of stuff he orders done.

People oooh and ahhh over criminals like Dahmer but this is in the same class...... or actually much worse........ IMO.

The weakest arguement I've ever heard is "Well, we let this go on in other countries..."
