apparently he went nuts took 4 grenades and threw 3 of them. 1 was a dud, he threw one into a tent and another in a different tent.

12 soldiers hurt, 6 seriously, none life threatening.

He was injured himself by 1 of the grenades.

He was acting strangely and they said he was questioning the Coalition's mission.

They decided to leave him behind should they go into Iraq.

This was reported by NBC, I just caught the end of it.

Anyone else hear this?

Damn.  :(

At least it sounds like they will live.

I read a book by a well decorated vet of Vietnam and Korea (forgot his name), who talked about hand grenades and all the times he was wounded by them and saw how people reacted when a grenade landed in front of them or in their hole or bunker.  Basically he said he lost all respect for hand grenades as weapons, and the worst thing you could do is dive on one, because you will probably die.  Just hit the deck and everybody will survive.

Guess I'm glad to hear it's still true.

Hope they fry that nutjob if what you said is correct.

brain damaged. we had some head cases like this in my army too.

like all communitys, the military has it's nutjobs. thankfully, per capita, the numbers are far less...

i'm thankful the damage this one did was minor compared to how bad it could have been..
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

According to CBS News two Kuwaiti translators are being questioned.  Authorities also caught a U.S. soldier thought to be involved as well.

Uh, he is allegedly a Moslem-American.  So insanity was probably not his motivation.

CNN is very happy to report this incident.  They are asking the reporters how the troops they are embeded with feel about the situation.  I feel they will begin every report now with that question as if the troops in the field are focused on this incident.

Unfortunately I'll probably have to listen to this ******* cry his eyes out in a few months when he's sitting in my office telling me how "I was always a good soldier, I don't know what happened" :(

That's the American Way!!

Please.......

My wife is from another country.  The sole reason she finally became a citizen (after 20 years living here) is so that she could excercise her right to vote!

She takes her American Citizenship more seriously and more responsibly than half this board.

My Grandfather on my mother's side came from here from Germany in the 30's and my Grandfather on my father's side came here from Italy in the 20's....I'm glad you didn't get to decide to kick them out in the '40's.

This guy can't be guilty he's low ranking, black, and a moslem.  It is someone elses fault,  prolly the army.

The libs are going to have a new cause now.  I can't wait to hear the arguments and irrational justifications for this guys actions.  This is going to be a story that has "legs"!
