I’m entering my formal apologies and resignation for AXIS CO list.

I failed to account for the Allied battle plan and lost the frame. There were many factors to this, and I thought we had a good defense plan. We covered a 6+ sector path into the Allied target. Somehow they evaded it and got to the target. I was told in private text by Viff that the bombers came in from the far north-west. I failed to account for that direction of attack. The one wave we did encounter was 37,000 feet P47’s. Unfortunately the few 190’s that we had were no match for them. The 30,000 foot service ceiling I set for my prop plane fighters was obviously not enough.

I did not field any of the 16 Me163’s that I had at my disposal (8 that could each re-up if landed successfully). There were not enough pilots. I also did not field the full allotment of Me262’s (12), also due to pilot numbers.

There are many controversies surrounding this frame. I will let those be settled in other threads. This is just to give a great to all the AXIS pilots that participated, and let them know I did what I could. I know I let them down by not successfully protecting the targets, and I hope they will understand. The communication was not nearly as fluid as it could have been, and there were obvious gaps in my net of protection.

No need to resign for not expecting the RAF to purposley lose all of their aircraft. I would never have expected it.

You had all logical routes covered, it's better to learn from this rather than give up.

TY for both of your thoughts.

maybe resigning is not the course of action. i guess my frustration over how so many enemies got past us and how poorly the defense went got to me.

looking @ Viff's plan where were all the planes that came donw the center of our patrol? did they go under the clouds? if so how did they know the clouds were there?

i should have had some below looking, but i had only 34 pilots @ my disposal. the 30k + cons we did see lead me to believe the enemy was not coming NOE but they must have.

oh well.. enough thinking about this. lest just go on and fly the next S.O. and kick the allies arse.

lucky or us there were no Me-163s ... I was sure it would be a slaughter.

My main tactic was to cause as much attrition to the LW as I could, before the B17s got to their target, and from the NW instead of directly West where anticipated from.

Once they realised where the B-17s were, we had already dropped on the target, and there were too few LW still up to intercept us and cause much damage.

There was a couple of 262 & a couple of 109 pilots who were very capable and managed to shoot a couple of our formations down before dieing to our guns.

not NOE, 12k are not noe:) even our cover was hard to find us:)
suprise and cheat enemy its first rule of sucesfull air strike:

JB73 the B26s were at ca. 17k with top and forward fighter cover. We saw a cloud bank ahead of us, and seeing as how A) we expected immanent enemy interception and B) were confident in our ability to maintain a tight formation in the limited visibility afforded by clouds, we descended to 12k and into the clouds. When the sweep made contact, we begged them to do everything possible to keep the enemy high. We watched a good deal of the battle from our cupolas. it was tense. We were right below you.

Unfortunately in AH people who come from a non military background (most of us) have to learn how to be CO the hard way

This is the first time I have worked with you since 101 RED joined TOD, and your orders are far from the worst I have seen.

Hey JB73, you don't have to go and do that, everyone has a bad day. I'd gladly up with you as Axis Co again, and uh if we have the 190's again let's not go so high, my bird was starting ta turn Blue, I couldn't get an oxygen mask big enough for her.
