Ok I went out and bought X45 so far I like it I haven't programed any buttons, however I am have some troubles. I installed the basic drivers and Win XP see's all the buttons etc but in AH it only see buttons on the stick but not the secondary hat or pinkie button. Do I need to instal the advanded software for key mapping my stick so I can see those buttons on the throttle ? Or am I missing something in AH ?

The "advanced" (lol) software sucks. It can't even map joystick buttons to, duh, joystickbuttons (except the few default buttons).

Nothing like "head3 top left triggers directXbutton 27".

A joystick isn't a device to input keystrokes. But maybe that's just me...

Three ways:

a) EIther you use the setup tool and set the 2nd hat to report as hat, and the first one as buttons.

b) You can easily map each of the four buttons the second hat reports to the viewing functions in AH.

c) You can make the second hat report keystrokes on the num-pad

(better ignore c or your viewing might end up in the chat buffer ;) )

also, if you have the newer saitek mapping software installed you can use the "report as" function to make your other hat act like the primary one. The newer controller software works pretty well on my win2k setup, so it should work ok in xp. You can use the report as to reassign other buttons such as the pinkie -- if you dont want the pinkie to be the shift key, reassign it! Also setting the rotors as bands is very easy, i use mine for gear, hooks, and autopilot options. I even reassigned my rudder rocker to flaps since I bought rudder pedals.

later.

I think I have to do it in AH joystick set up.

When I look at the mapping software editor it will not allow me to set the second hat as my POV...only the primary has that option, even when I set the primary to "buttons".
