Next Friday Squad Operations
« on: October 22, 2003, 02:00:02 PM »
Gents,

I am back at it again. I want to go over a few items concerning any events that I write and am the Admin CM for. The next Friday Squad Operations will take place on Friday October 31st.

1 – Radar will always be off. If Frame C.O.’s want to act as a ground control and jump from tower to tower to update flights on information pertaining to their mission they are more than welcome.
2 – There will never be an altitude cap. Fly as high as you like.
3  – Plane sets will remain the same for all three frames. If I start in the fall of 1944 we will end in the fall of 1944.
4  – Any AC that are limited will have finite number for all three frames. Attrition will be a factor. In the current Hungary setup I am planning 12 Me-262’s will be available for all three frames. If a squad loses 8 Me-262’s in frame 1 that would only leave 4 Me-262’s for frames 2 and 3.
5  – I will not ask for volunteers for Frame C.O.’s. You will be assigned a frame and if you are unable to fulfill your obligations then it will be YOUR responsibility to find someone in your squad to cover you. Any squad who leaves 100 players on a Friday night without orders (and 200 without game play) will be removed from Squad Operations.
6  – Squads who don’t show up will be removed from Squad Operations.
7  – Your objectives (targets to attack and defend) will be very clear and to the point. Anyone who has flown in a Squad Operations and not seen any action understand why I write them this way and will continue to write them this way. There is enough chance in any give target to keep players on their toes. For example:
a. What type of AC or AC’s will attack?
b. How many will attack?
c. When they will attack?
d. What direction will they come from?
e. What altitude will they have?
8  – I will always give the Axis more pilots/squads since time has proven that they tend to have 10 to 15 percent less turn out over the Allied squads.
9  – I will rarely use GV’s and if I do it will always entail
a. GV’s vs GV’s
b. GV drivers will have an immediate second life and not have to wait.
10  – I will always base my Squad Operations on points. Level bombers can rack up a substantial number of points, but losing 50% of their numbers can also add up some serious points.
11  – I will always ask Frame C.O.’s to provide escort for bombers.
12  – I will not change any write up once it is posted, unless there is an error or over site on my part that will affect game play.
13 Squad Operations will always start on time at 5 minutes after the hour according to the Setup CM time.  If your not ready, tough.
14 – Don’t whine on channel 1. You will be warned once then muted.
14 - Walk ons are not welcome. Guests are very welcome. If you want to fly in a Squad Operations and are not a member of a squad that is, then contact a squad prior and give a try. :)

I don’t like gray areas (;) no insult intended grayarea) in my Squad Operations. Everyone should know what is expected for better or for worse.  If you think your bending the rules, most likely your breaking them in my book. Please don’t put me in a position where I feel you or your squad should be removed from Squad Operations, because I will.

I ran the above by ghostdancer who is head of the Squad Operations. He approved my criteria and how I plan to manage them which is how I have always ran them since this started in the summer of 2001.

The next Squad Operations will use the Hungary terrain in 1944. We will use all three countries, (Bishop, Knight, Rook) for this design. American, Germany, and Russian each will be assigned a country.

I will post details tomorrow. Please give me your side preference and numbers you expect from your squad.

Please Choose American/Russian or German
Number commitment from your squad for each frame.

This Saturday I will post sides, Frame C.O.’s, and then send out orders by Sunday.

daddog .. him October 31st and Halloween on a friday. I know I won't make it. Wife will wreck the computer if I try. She wants to go out for once instead of giving out candy to kids.

Not sure if that is the same with everyone else. I guess we need to find out and if enough will be awol schedule for Nov. 7th instead.

Heh.... as a Brit, I guess I'll never understand the US obsession with Halloween....  :)  Sounds like a perfect excuse to put the headphones on, ramp up the sound and fly an event in Aces High (hopefully drowning out any doorbell sounds from Trick or Treaters!)  :D  Though, yeah, I appreciate those with young kids want them to have a good time.  ;)

I would love to do that .. but my wife wants to go out and party for Halloween. And the excuse of:

"I don't want to stay up that late" doesn't seem to fly when I a stay up to 1 am in the morning for squad ops. Go figure. :)

Umm good point. I don't celebrate Halloween so I tend to forget about that one. Maybe it would be better to hold off one more week. I am sure many will have kids ringing the their door bells even if they don’t go out themselves.

Please continue to post your squad information so I can still plan.  Ghostdancer lets delay it one more week unless you say otherwise.

Can we put up a Snapshot Friday the 31st for those that still want to fly in an event?
