I really thinkg an x800GT (7,8,9 series) NVidia card, or better is needed to run smoothly with all the bells and whistles turned on. Or an ATI 4850, or better.
Mrs. bustr just bought me an NVIDA Geforce GTX275 OC. Skuzzy is correct. I now have everything turned up max and HiTech's EyECandy looks like a real world. At 10k over water you see the curve of the earth with horizons that look like real world horizons that dissapere into ground haze. The Sun's reflection from water looks like a real reflection. I now have the depth perception to pull up near water or use the size of a planes shadow on the water to know how close it is to the surface. I watched a bomber fall into the ocean from 5k away. The splash column of water from the impact looked like an object of that weight and velocity hit water. The higth of the water splash and time for it to subside down looked real. In the past, and with my 9800GT recently, bombers would hit the water and there would be a momentary representation of a splash or the bomber would just dissapere.
I had a 9800gt before and it did not have the bandwidth to process everything in the game. I had to turn off water and shadows. The GTX275 has about 3 times the bandwidth that the 9800GT does. The ATI HD 4890 is about equal to the GTX275 in reviews and costs a bit less. Best Buy sells the 4890 for $199 vs. $223 for the GTX275.
The factor of Aces High2 that makes it a superior product to other on-line games is the fact that you can successfully play it on so many grades of PC. EyECandy has never been cheap.
