Move along girls... no hijacking here...
This is my thread to rant in...
Go start your own threads if you want to talk about prepublescent adolescent humor TV shows young women with big tata's and stupid beer jokes -arrrrrgh... rooo! Belch!

This thread is about Bush Senior's CIA and their invovlement with supplying the C-4 that blew up PANAM 103 and training Libyan terrorists.

If you want to stay here... keep the subject to germaine by discussing conservatives and how their secret addiction to supositories make them senselessly blather about liberal left wing conspiracies designed to take control of the conservative owned media.

So anyway, I prefer beer over wine. I know some guys prefer wine, but I dont really like wine at all. At the same time, you often find yourself in situations where you HAVE to drink wine. Like on an official dinner with clients and stuff like that. And I suppose its like coffee, I mean the first cup of coffee tasted like vomit, and so did cup nr 2 and 3..in fact it was only once you got to cup 14-15 that coffee started to taste good. So I was thinking, maybe wine is an aqquired taste...but how long must you endure that crap?

So my question to you wine drinkers is, how long does it take to "learn" how to appreciate wine?

Anybody like Red Bull and Cuervo?  I tried it a few days ago, and just woke up.

It depend heavily of your background (read living in a wine producing country) and of both the quality and kind of wine you will start with.

For exemple I won't give a Petrus to a newbie it will be a waste for him and me.

To start appreciate wine I suggest starting with a bourgogne  white wine like a Chablis , Sancerre or a Loire Valey wine like Quart de Chaume/Bonezeau/Layon (cheaper wine)  next switch to light red wines like the one from the Loire , next Bourgogne and finally Bordeau.

But don't forget that it's YOUR taste not the one of anyone else !
If you don't like the Bordeau (like me) it's not that you have a bad taste it's just because it's not your taste.

Plus you don't drink wine to be drunk (well it can happen :)) so you need to mix it with a good meal (McDonald + wine == junk)

Some wine region you should start with (IMO of course ) : Anjou,Bourgogne,Chinon,Jurançon,Madiran,Saumur.

to answer to you initial question : it depend.
I would say some years if you choose quantity over quality to the instant you find a wine that fit you.

bush jr a deserter , ok check (all i ever needed after confirmation from three sources)

reagan and bushes dad a tratorious felons  coke dealers with more illeagle **** than there is time to go into here ( none involving sex but lots of coke and explosives), ok check

bush a religious kook, deserter, coke head and lies about what little he will talk about in his criminal behavior, ok check (dont forget bankrupted every busness he ever ran)

that they turn on a innocent man and steal 20 years of his life for convienience? not news to the party loyal.

So at the request of his government, this patriot sells explosives to Lybia.  His government then sells him up the river.

But this isn't worthy of criticism or debate?  What cowardess.

Perhaps you would preferring discussing how evil and bad it was for Clinton to get a blowjob.

in 1977....  Who was president then?  A Nobel prize winner was responsible for this policy?

["It was these and other firearms violations by Wilson, including a scheme to ship more than a thousand M16 rifles to Qadaffy, that had put the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) and Larry Barcella on Wilson's trail back in late 1977."

So the ATF thought to be illegal in 1977? Who was in charge then?

Now, about beer, I prefer a good Czech Pilsner....

^Wine sucks. except for that stuff that comes in the box, but I didnt drink that in college for the taste. Glühwein is good but mainly cause its warm and the outside world is freezing in the winter. AH spitfire pilots do prefer wine coolers Ive heard. Its beer or malt liquor for me, unfortuneatly the latter is missing in germany. Tequila,Slivowitz and Rum is the best. Want to know something strange all those peppermint schnapps in America that say made in germany? well they have none here. I saw a black helicopter last night, he said he was flying to nexus' house.

Actually I find white wine much easier to drink.

*Straffo, please hold your ears/eyes now so you dont hear/see this*

Especially if you mix white wine and Sprite, and add lots of ice, it tastes really good. But I mean that is hardly something you can do when your in a fancy restaurant with clients.

*Straffo, you may look/listen again now*

What I'm having trouble with is red wine. I simply cant stand it. What I would like to know is where to begin. Straffo, you suggested Anjou, Bourgogne, Chinon,  etc. But I would like to know what grape we are talking? Rioja? Or something else? What would you suggest to someone who doesnt really like wine at all, but needs to learn? Give me a brand, a grape, a region, a house...anything...

It's extremly hard for me :)
Imagine in the Loire valley (were I lived before coming to Normandie)  we have the following wines :
White : Quart de Chaumes,Coteaux du Layon,Bonnezeaux,Savennières

Red : Anjou,Saumur,Saumur-Champigny
and for each one there is up to hundred producers ! (except the Quart de Chaumes)

Now imagine that we have about 15 regions producing wine ... you are lost ?
I'm too :D
Just look :

I'll try to make a short list from my personnal reserve (as usual according to my taste ) and I'll start a new thread

Use this thread instead Straffo. We might as well bring some culture to these pro/anti-Bush-Bashers ;)
