Speaking of blind....California/Washington state wines surpassed French/German quality along time ago. (And, we don't have any desire to use anti-freeze to sweeten them, waves to French!)

Quality perhaps but taste and variety are a work in progress ...

Not that make US wine bad but as I know there is far less choices in the US just because the producers I've tryed have some stéréotyped wines just like the Bordeau selected by Parker (may he rot in hell )

I prefer regionnal personality and sometime errors to standardisation (worst of all being "Beaujolais Nouveau")

You know, Ive been been meaning to learn more about wine.  I like certain red's - but I dont know much about the history or the culture associated with wine.

Could anyone recommend any good books?  Wine Snobbary for Dummies or something?
