Bren carrier to the left, Sherman Crab Mk.I (flail type mine clearer) to the right, barrel/muzzle of a 6 Pounder anti-tank gun in foreground, center.

It's a Sherman 'Crab' flail tank, and it looks like a 57mm AT gun, but it's not a Bren Universal Carrier; the Bren had a 'bay window' block on the left bow to hold the pintle mount for the Bren gun, and that vehicle not only doesn't have the bow Bren gun position, but the transmission is exposed (the BUC's was behind armor) and the front armor is sloped (the BUC's bow armor was vertical). What that is is a Loyd Carrier:

Yes, it is a Lloyd carrier.

I was thinking about where the photo was taken. Having spent a lot of time in Sicily, I'd say that is where the shot was taken.
