You should have invited the thief to a sandwich and some rum...

If I were you curval, I'd play hardball with them, Did they file a report?  If the answer is no then now its time to put their lazy arses in a sling...

I would write a letter to your mayor, CC to the police chief.

I would state your disappointment with the service of your local police department.; and tell them truthfully what happened.  I would finish the letter with some facts:

1.  You pay taxes right, if you do and are not a deadbeat include your w2's

2.  The police get paid to serve and protect.  in effect your are indirectly paying them and services are not being rendered.

3. Tell them you will forward a fraud complaint to your states attorney general if no actions are taken to record  your theft..

4. Ask for a full audit of your local police department...

I got 3-1 odds you will get a reponse in less than 3 business days...

And most likely lazy individuals will be disciplined..

Dont screw around..  you do indeed have rights if your in this country legally.

My 2 cents...

Rofl!

As if he'd give a flying f.. about Toad's rants. The worst thing is, Toad actually thinks someone cares.

Just out of curiousity YO... why would you recomend doing that?  Just because it's the most serious method of retaliation you can think of?  I mean... why do you feel that particular response is merrited?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even if the thing was unlocked a crime has still occurred and the cops should NOT be acting like insurnace adjusters?!?

My wife looked at me after she got off the phone and said "The police officer essentially said the theft was YOUR fault".

What a JOKE!

I've never been to Bermuda..that is where you are, isn't it?...but my impression is that it's not very large. Any chance you can find yer bike, yourself,  Curval?.....just curious

Quick update...

Received a call from the cops today.  They found my cell phone in another car that had been broken into in another part of the island.

Seems like the theif accidentally dropped it when he was rumaging through the other car.

Silly fellow...CID (Crimminal Investigation Division) is dusting for prints and say they should be able to nail him as it appears to be a habitual offender and it is likely they have them on record.

Hope they don't find the bike now though...I want the insurance money.  :)
