MiniD, you can bet in the reversed situation (the actual opposition being in charge, and Berlusconi in opposition), the reactions would have been the same, sides swapped.

Bowing to terrorists:

If a terrorist wants you to stop, they kill your people. Bowing to terrorists is stopping what you are doing just because they will try to kill you if you don't.

When a terrorist kills 11 Italians in attempt to get Italy to pull out of Iraq, a very bad response is "well... we should pull out then."

Unfortunately, the opposition to the war will use any casualty as proof that trying to help is wrong.
