Last night in the MA (new sfterr map)I watched the whining continue about the ostwind. A player had driven to an enemy field (i believe in this case it was the downhill from 56 to 27) in an osty in support of an attack to capture the base.
He was vulching the aircraft taking off from what I could tell by the complaining. Do you all not remember when a panzer would do this same thing? I remember watching Storm do this ALOT.
With the new map it takes 15 minutes or more to drive to an enemy base, the player that takes the time to drive the distance while the enemy IGNORES him deserves to vulch them!! You can see the marker in sector, and up in a tank or aircraft LONG before he arrives in most cases.(56-27 being the exception).
Frankly I couldn't believe what i saw over channel one. Name calling etc.
There is alot of this whining and abuse going on in the arena. Last night I saw an arguement ensue over a player's plane choice and attack style (gee how unique). The majority of us pay for our entertainment, and as a paying client I should be able to fly what I want, when I want, how I want, within the rules, and not have to listen to this BS.
Some players in the arena have nothing productive or even non derogatory to say. Some of these players take quite abit of fun out of the game. I've flown other online sims, and find the attitude in the MA of AH to be the worst I've seen.
Perhaps a squelch list could be included in the sim. Permitting a player to list all the players they wish to squelch, and is loaded upon connection. I really find this takes alot outta the sim as is.
The 2 week free trial I think also often takes away from the enjoyment at times as well. Constant CAPs across the screen from some brat who just downloaded the sim, and hasn't taken the time to read the help webpages, who likely won't bother subscribing anyways, is just damn annoying. I don't mind helping new players, I find alot of the time I am unable to not help! Perhaps a "tutorial" mode or a quick key reference (like aw) needs to be added for the new players.
Personally I'd like to see a second arena possibly smaller for the 2 week accounts, and an exclusive members arena with additional aspects to encourage the free account players to sign up. Possibly have a limited planeset in the free arena, no naval units once they arrive, or no scoring, just something to entice the freebies to sign on.
I think at least some of the above issues will be supported by the majority of the paying customers and deserve serious consideration.
(off to read complaint filing procedures..)
