Yes, I sometimes wish for a squelch list as well for those that suffer from rectal-cranial inversion. Squelching 1 takes away an interesting aspect of the game, but sometimes it is just too much. Got some on country channel that would be included to the list as well.

I believe we all have the right to call dweebs and worse names to people who just shot us down, to try to make it sound like I am better than them. I also believe name calling is a right.

It is also your right to eat a plate full of your own defecation, but I seriously doubt that you would do it(in public).

How about a 2 minute muting after being killed?  Prevent the spontaneous responses typed while in the chute or in the tower.  Then you eliminate the need to defend the response.

AKDejaVu,
I like to salute my opponent after the fight.  Frequently I have to refer to his kill award in order to get his name right.  Two minutes would scroll it off the list.

I see what you're saying, but it would adversely effect non-garbage mouths as well.

I agree with the most of what you said Skurj...

HTC writes on the front page...

New users get a free two week trial of our premium subscription service - no strings attached.
No credit card number or payment is required for your two week trial.

Since I read this sentence I have thought Why? What do HTC get out of permitting people without International Ccreditcard to log on to main arena? I think two of the really important reasons why many people dont pay for AcesHigh are:
1) They dont have an international creditcard, maybe they have a national/local credit card which HTC cant use. Maybe they are too young to have an international creditcard.
2) They are genarally reluctant/afraid (or their parents are)to use creditcard on intenet.

My point is: These people would probably never sign up for a paid account anyway. Why give them the option to fly in main, when they have free 8-player to fly in and get ready for the day they have access to a credit card.
My suggestion is that people who wants the free trial, should giver their creditcard information to HTC. The 14 days would still be free but only if shows his serious intentions by showing the creditcard.
Also it would stop the abuse of the free trial, that has been going on for so long. A guy who wants to stay on free trials for the rest of his life, can do it by using his friends e_mail adresses or by getting an ISP with unlimited number of E-mail adresses.
But if he wants to do the same with creditcards he would soon run out of options.

This little change would solve many problems with one blow I think, please consider it Pyro.

I always squelch 1, it's the first thing I do when I log in. I've done this since I first started playing, last year. If I notice someone constantly adding 5,000 "?" marks after every question, I'll squelch him too. People who ask a few questions I've never minded, and I'll always try to help them. Then you've got people who downloaded the game, cranked it, and logged straight into the arena. One guy I met in the TA was kind enough to go there instead of in the main. He didn't even know how to land.

My personal gripe is those who insist on sending a join request every 15 seconds. Last night I had a perfect shot on a 205, but this moron shot me a join request. Blocked my vision, ruined my shot, and got me fairly frustrated. I squelched him, but he continued sending me join requests. After nearly a year of playing this game, this is the ONLY time I nearly swapped sides to shut an idiot up. Instead of doing that, I logged out.

I prefer to fly with the pro's on my side. They know what they're doing and are a damn good reference when you've got a question. In the case of Tin Horns, I have to repeat what Santa said..."RTFM!". Since we don't have a manual yet, they should read a few web pages about it. Or at least restrict themselves to the TA until they've learned the ropes.

Deja, that would more of a hinderance than a help. Usually after getting shot down I'll tell everyone what was going on before it happened. This keeps people up to date on what's happening at A7, for example.

I'm all for a permanent squelch list. Sometimes when I log in there's 5 or 6 people I'm going to squelch. Would save me some time.

I have never squelched because of a sniviling twit.  I squelch because the text updates so rapidly I miss the good stuff from my squadies.!

If I am flying along and not much going on, I read the crap on Channel 1 alot.  Nothing better for the soul than a good laugh!!!!

Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Flakbait..I can identify with your story about the "join request".  I haven't been playing AH long, and one day right in the middle of heated 1vs1, a "join request" pops up right in the middle of my screen.  I couldn't see a thing and frantically pounded my Enter key only to cause myself to bail out  .  I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Anyone, who shot you in AH do you a favour. He shows you that you still need to learn how to fly, and there are always some people who fly better. <S> them, they desirve it.

Anyone, who starts shouting on those who killed him in AH lose such a great opportunity to improve himself, and only thing I feel toward him is pity.

If you do not like this logic, use squelch.

And yes, squelch list is a good thing, and it shall be easy to implement. There are, probably, some reasons for HTC not to do such, though I do not understand it. May be someone of HTC will explain while this feature still not in the game? Really, pls., it probably will make number of unhappy people lower.

I have often thought that channel 1 should be "squelched" by default and must be "unsquelched" to access it.

I like the squelch idea.  I usually squelch 1 if the conversations get somewhat unpleasant, and then quickly unsquelch so I can bother Shamus. hehee
