I thought it was in very poor taste to kill a guy hanging helpless in a chute. I have read reports of pilots saluting a worthy opponent.  I think I won't do it

It's bad form.  But if the guy has it coming...

Keep in mind it was done on occasion by all sides in WW2.

hello:

to start with, in WWII pilots did shoot down guys under chutes, so he could not come back tomorrow and shoot him down, yes it did happen. as for here in this GAME, the only chutes I will shoot, are the guys that are more worried about there scores then they are about helping there team out by defending a field because they might get vulched. I have been vulched by more people at more fields then probably anybody else, I will do not give up trying to hold a field for my team, and the hell with my score. but there are those that will never defend a field, they must have 5k alt advantage and 2/1 or 3/1 advatage before they will engage so as not to hurt there scores. so if I know one of these guys is under that chute I see floarting over there, yeeha, here i come guns a blazing,
ratatatatatatata blast the chute and I would be more then happy to let the person know it was me who shot him. and if he wants to track me down and blast me for it, go for it. I have been shot well under a chute and could not care less, and if you dont like been shot well under a chute, open lower, try to get your plane some place it will be safer to open your chute,or go down in flames,
BUT PLEASE STOP THE CHUTE SHOOTING WHINNING.

<tosses quart of 151 rum into campfire>

So why didn't HTC make 'chutes bullet proof?

I'm sure they easily could have.

Just wondering..........

Criteria for shooting chutes...

1.  They must be within range of your guns.
2.  You must have ammo to fire from your guns.

I've tried, but can't come up with anything past number 2!

I figure the prop tips are painted yellow so you know where they are via the visible arc and you can make the appropriately close shave on the buzz by!

Snagging a chute with a tail wheel needs to be modeled.

I still think HTC should model the blood & guts, when you hit chutes with the prop!

Thats only if you do not have any bullets left

i gotta say i think shooting chuts is annoying.after all why bother jumping out if everyone shoots you in the parachute?i like buzzing chutes but i never shoot em. only sick pilots in WW2 shot chutes...eg nazi type pilots and nutty japs  i dont want to act like them thanks
i watched a programme once where an american pilot described seeing his friend killed by a 109 in his chute and he said  'i blew the sick son of a squeak to hell.i never stopped firing until he exploded'

Heh, I saw that one too.

He played with the 109, just pinging him enough to bail out.

Then let loose with all guns

Hazed, sorry to burst your bubble, but the USAAF and USN shot chutes too.  I've read about the RAF and USSR pilots doing it too.  And of course the Japanese and Germans.

Also, one other little detail.  No one DIES when you strafe a chute in AH.  Just a little something I thought might be relevent.
