chute shooters??!!

True, nobody dies, but it is an attack on the person after a fasion.  It is an insult that says "I have no respect for you!!!".

On Sunday I was flying a Niki from a capped airfield, after and extensive chase multiple bandits finally brought me down.  I bailed, giving the kill to the guy who got me, I opened my chute at low altitude so that I wouldn't be too tempting a target.  After I open my chute, I start typing a S! message to the victor.  About halfway through this, I land.  So there I am, on the ground, near my on airfield, typing a S! when what happens?  Some dweeb straffes and kills me.

Now that goes completely against the grain of what I was doing and had done.  I didn't try to ditch and rob the victorious pilot of his kill.  I didn't have time to spy, as if there was anything to spy on that close to my own airfield.  That was simplying an insult from an immature person who gets his rocks off by irritating other people.  Of course I have no idea who the guilty party is, but a dweeb they certainly are.

Not shooting chutes is simply a mark of respect for ones vanquished opponent.  I will never shoot a chute, even if he's done it to me.

Well, I completely disagree...I personally just enjoy shooting anything that I can, and chutes happen to be something I can shoot at and watch them 'go boom'.  No disrespect indended.  Oh well, I'll keep doin' it in either case

IMO jumping in the first place is a silly thing.

I guess that one difference is that some of us do a bit of roleplaying while we fly.  To us getting killed is bad and we don't like it.  The only reason we would do such to another is  to insult them and so we project those intentions onto other players.

Another group of players doesn't roleplay while they fly, they enjoy the technical skill.  To them shooting a chute or being shot in a chute is nothing much and they see others the same way.

Neither approach is better, they're just different and sometimes they clash and somebody gets upset.

I figure if a guy has been shot down that's enough. What's more humiliating then to be seen hanging there in a chute? (unless you just did something heroic and got shot down in the process).

But it is wrong to think of chute killers as goofy twerps who have no liking or respect for the rest of us. Did anyone ever consider that they just might be lonely people in need of fulfillment. That they might just be human beings who cherish the simple and forlorn hope that they are 'real' men. You know, tough, angry, meat-eating, red-blooded anti-heros who are unable to restrain their admirably animalistic urge to slaughter all. Perhaps these 'real men' deserve understanding and indulgence. So here's a wink and a nudge to you 'badass' chute killers. It takes a 'real' man to do what you do - the rest of us understand that underneath you are sensitive, fragile, caring, worthwhile human beings. You are just 'good old boys'.

Therefore, you can feel free to shoot me when I'm hanging in my chute and get out some of the frustrations and rage that your painful inadequacies must cause you - I will understand.

hello again:

the really sad thing here, is that this subject has come up every day since beta 1 started. so when you feel bad or ticked off about been shot while under you chute, look back through the post's and find a chute shooting post and read it. maybe in there you will find the answers you are looking for,
BUT PLEASE STOP WITH THE STUPID CHUTE SHOOTING WHINNING ALREADY.

and as for Fluf, are you talking from personal feelings.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, FEEL FREE TO SHOOT MY CHUTE, I DONT CARE.

I have other things much more important to worry about, I dont take this game so serious that I would find shooting a chute floating down as a crime against humanity.  It isnt a real person, nobody really dies, and life goes on for all.

Put away the righteous indignation, grab a slice of reality pie and have some fun.

Some might not care bad about floating in a chute, if they are blessed with good patience.
What are you to 'help' them if they don't need that sort of help?

P.S.  The way I heard that story, the Russian pilot strangled him.  I will try to find the book containing the story.  It had the name of the pilot.

Well I remembered that he did it because, with the ditch the german had denied him a victory, or something like that...

I read that stuff ages ago, sorry, in a book I saw in a friend's house (who after that lend it to me so I could read it in MY house not HIS  ), I was 14 or something like that, and I remember very badly the story.
