I have to ask ... what theft prevention measures have you applied to this ride or what measures are you going to take ?

Is that a banana plant in the background ?

He has that bike lock laying on the rear wheel... not going through anything else.  That should deter theft.

curval..  I do not ride motorcycles anymore.. quit before the helmet law but... I do everything I can to prevent the government from running my life short of armed rebeliion.   I have signed petitions and voted and attended rallies.   even tho I don't ride....

that is the difference.... I am not making excuses for my state... I am not making excuses for my government and getting on here justifying draconian nanny laws and saying anyone else needs to follow Californias example..  I am not voting to restrict other people.... to protect them from themselves.

California is on a socialist, nanny, busybody downhill slide.   I will probly not retire here.  I will move somewhere that leaves me alone more.

Bike lock through the rear wheel as pointed out above, steering lock is also "on"...and the bike sits under a sensor light so that if anyone approaches it the light goes on.

The dog will be there too soon.

:)

I'm sure if this is stolen it will somehow STILL be my fault.

Lazs, "here you can buy a 502 cubic inch, 600 hp motorcycle and insure it for very little cost." LMAO, bet that's not a Harley.

Lazs, out of interest. Ask an insurance company you've just obtained your bike licence and want to insure your new GSXR1000 for $10,000USD or what ever they cost new there. See what they come up with. Gurantee it will be alot more then "very little".

By the way, shame you gave up biking just over helmet laws. I guess the government was looking to reduce head injuries and fatalities on bikes. Yet for you they stopped you from riding altogether.

How about two U-shaped pipes sunk in concrete at either end of the motorcycle, to go along with those U-locks?

Stearing locks are completely ineffective.  What I mean to say is... THEY ARE TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE.

It's not a matter of it being your fault the bike was stolen... it's a matter of you not wanting to take steps to make it more secure.  A cable lock going through the frame to something secure (in concrete) nearby is all it takes.

Here in Florida, if you get $10k in insurance, you don't need to wear a helmet.  I guess the gov'ts thinking there was that only stupid people would pay the insurance premiums for that much coverage, and if they did then they'd get "Darwined" out of the gene pool eventually.  Either that or it was a conspiracy between the gov't and the insurance companies to jack up revenues.  I suspect the latter more than the former.

I see your point Mini, but did you see my list?  I have the U-Lock (which I was told was the reason I was at fault for not having one prior), I have the useless strearing lock, and I have also installed sensor lights above where I place my bike...no longer on the driveway.

Now I guess I will need a mason to come in and concrete some metal posts (probably re-bar) so that I can now chain it to an imovable object in order to take the "necessary steps" to which you refer?

My goodness.

Is it just me...or is this over-freakin-kill?

How bout the government let me decide what is practical?  I know that is a pretty big concept and you don't need to answer right away... give yourself some time to wrap your brain around it.

I am not an island person but thanks for the offer.

lazs

1. they have maybe 25 miles of road there...owning a big bike is like using a nuke to take out a mosquito...
2. practical is practical...just because the government decided to stop morons from killing people with there big cars and bikes doesnt mean its not practical...

next laz is going to be denouncing the government because its deciding things for him...
